I didn’t really look around inside so I can’t help you there. I will say that La Cumbre Elevated is a world class IPA brewed here in ABQ, and Black Mesa has a nice patio with great views for reflecting on your round. If you are of those persuasions, it’s a tough combo to beat.
I am pretty confident that I don’t recognize any of these courses, which is sick. It looks like there is a shot from the beautiful drive between Santa Fe and Taos, so perhaps northern NM. Also more greenery than we see down here. Any outsiders reading that, it’s OK to laugh. Can’t wait!
Looks like we’re in for some awesome drone footage

Officially on board the UNM North train with @RolandOfGilead. Had a 3 o’clock tee time yesterday to play and finished up at 4:40. Last tee time is 4:30, but the starter bent the rules a little to let me do another loop. Finishing up at sunset with everyone out on the holes behind me walking their dogs on the fairway was a sick vibe. Not to mention the course is super unique for the area and always in great condition!

I’ve never played at that time of day but that sounds awesome. Shades of St. Andrews ;-p I could go on and on about that course. On top of everything else, I love how the hard holes are really tough (#1,4,8) and the easy holes can be had (#3,7,9).
Absolutely, just gotta take your medicine on the hard holes and know that those bogeys (and double bogeys for me) are gonna be balanced out by the pars and birdies on the easy holes. Love it
Also, 3 and 4 are freaking awesome back to back
For sure. To paraphrase Senor George R.R. Martin: on downhill #3 you get to eat the meal, but on uphill #4 you have to take the shit. 1 and 9 run parallel too but it’s not as drastic; having the holes back to back and across that topography really makes a difference. Strongly considering taking a vacation day to play there Thursday. You know, a Ryder Cup primer. Surely my loving wife will understand if I put it that way. Shit.
For sure man let’s do it! I’ve got leave to burn
Hi Y’all! Back Nine Johnny here! Wanted to say how fun it was playing with the NLU boys up in Los Alamos! Hope you guys come back, look me up!
Howdy ya’ll! Planning on doing a 36-hole day of nmsu and red hawk in Las Cruces in about 2 weeks if anyone else is interested in joining. Let me know.
Just got the UNM trophy club special email. Anyone on here ever done that? seems like a decent deal. By my math, I think I’d have to play 5 weekend rounds + the 2 complimentary rounds for it to “pay for itself”
Have not done it. Looks like you only save $6/round on weekend mornings plus a free small bucket. Savings is less for walking and/or weekday rounds. I don’t play there enough to make it worthwhile personally. If you want me to get all hot and bothered, talk to me about the North course.
Where are you located fellow Irishman? (I hate the term Domer, it’s a me thing)
I don’t really travel for golf due to having a young family but glad to hear you making it over. Most of the folks here are based up in ABQ.
I’m In El Paso for a few months, visiting my parents. I’d love to come up to ABQ but may run out of weekends before I head back up north
Yeah double checked my math and it’s absolutely not worth it haha
Hello NM Refugees,
With the news of the Refuge Roosts dropping yesterday, I’m in the preliminary stage of seeing if it would be possible to form a 4 Corner Alliance.
20 Nest members looks like it’ll be tough to achieve in our AZ group, so I’m floating the idea to combine willing participants from CO, AZ, NM, and UT.
We could set up rotating winter meet ups in AZ and NM, and have summer meet ups in CO and UT.
Still need to get spun up on all of the Roost details, but I’m all for it!
Awesome! CO/Denver has already met the 20 nest member quota, so I’m starting this google doc to see how many we could get from remaining states and present them with the option of expanding haha. Or it’s possible we have enough with AZ, NM, and potentially Vegas to create our own SW Regional Roost.
