Roll Call: Nashville (Spring Match Play Post 1319)

Anyone walked Harpeth Hills since the metro courses have closed? Crowded? Difficulties getting in?

I am going out there and meeting a buddy at 10am tomorrow…

Not that it answers your question but Nashboro was packed yesterday afternoon.

So was Two Rivers… Was completely fine up until the first par 3 on the front side… I think Nashboro is still open for business? I could be wrong…

It is. A co-worker played there yesterday.

I played VinnyLinks after work and it was pretty annoying. A lot of people playing by themselves (as a 1 some on each hole) playing like 6 balls and generally sucking made it take like 1.5 hours to play 9 out there. I played at sunrise this morning as the only one out there and it took like 35 minutes so…

Walked 9 out there two days ago and it took forever. Course is in pretty good shape though. Greens are amazing

Harpeth Hills was pretty busy last Saturday. Not as much as a normal weekend, but foursomes on most holes.

Decent crowd at Two Rivers this morning. Not too much of a wait on the first tee. You don’t realize how much you use the pin and flag for distances until they aren’t there. Felt great to get out though.

Going to try to get 18 in at Ted rhodes this evening around 4:30 if anyone would like to join. (Play front 9 twice I don’t like walking the half mile to the other 7 holes)

Unfortunately I left the clubs at home. Maybe another day

Played Harpeth Hills on Sunday and it was a little stacked up on the tee (12 people waiting to tee off in foursomes) but moved along okay. So far the greens are holding up though maybe a little slow. I am planning on going out to Vinny Links around 5:30 tonight if it stops raining at some point.

Also played Harpeth on Friday afternoon. It was super busy around 3/4 pm. Very difficult to chip on those greens without flag sticks. Or maybe just difficult in general.

A buddy told me he saw the grounds crew out at McCabe so hopefully all the city properties are still being maintained?

Played old fort on Saturday. Was a group on every hole but still finished in 4 hrs and no more than a few minute wait on a couple of tee boxes. Was in good condition. Walked over to Percy Warner around 6 last night and remembered why try not to play golf there.

How’d you do on holes 2 and 5?

I think I went par, bogey. Short par 4 and long par 5?

#4 is probably my least favorite hole out there. We played the back nine first so I’m having trouble remembering.

I should have directed it to @AnimalMother for his percy warner jaunt. PW’s 2nd and 5th holes are 5x harder than any other hole on the course and so out of place. I parred number 2 last week and it felt like an eagle.

I despise the 1st hole at Harpeth (because I always bogey), Hole 4 is interesting risk/reward (downhill dogleg left where you can cut the corner and almost drive the green), Hole 7 is a longer less risk version of 4. The back has better par 5s and 4s but walking that course is tough (though I always do). I think the real highlight of Harpeth Hills other than the improved greens is all of the par 3s are pretty interesting (to me).

Agreed. The par 3s are good and they’re no slouch.

Played Harpeth on Saturday around 10am with 3 of us. Round was smooth until we hit a few really slow groups but they let us roll right through no issues. Will probably sneak out on Two Rivers at some point for a quick nine at some point during this week.

Headed to 12 Stones Saturday. Free golf has been dope but I need a mowed green. I SUCK on slow greens.

The 2nd is where my experience went downhill. Walked over from the house with 3 clubs and my wife and some dude who just finished nine jumped in front of us at the tee box. Waited for him to tee off on 2 before I played 1. Tee off on 2 and I see him on the other side of the dog leg when I get to my ball. Dude is just dropping balls and practicing in the middle of the fairway. Wife could see my blood was boiling and said don’t yell anything and we just picked up and went to the long par 3 that runs beside 2. Just played the holes that are beside the road and walked home. So I got an N/A on 2 lol. Still pissed about that jerkoff in the fairway…

Yeah, it’s stuff like this that makes me happy to pay for a round at Hermitage on the weekend. It’s a free for all out there and a lot of people that otherwise would not be playing golf are out there ruining for all the regulars.
