now it the snow would melt and the temp went up 50 degrees we would be ready.
79 Days till the masters so we are getting close
I’ve yet to play Chaska TC. I need to get that done. Put me on your list if your looking for a playing partner. I’m an east-sider, tho.
I was born and raised in MN and am sad to say i have never played north of Grandview Lodge where i went to golf camp as a kid. I know we have many good courses “up north” just need to start chipping away at them.
Same
CTC is a great walk and a good value. Will def keep everyone posted once the snow melts
Same here. Most of my golf is limited to an hours drive from where I live. It sounds like we need a meet up in the Brainerd/Nisswa area.
Good Value? Not sure i agree with that, $94 round to ride is a bit steep for what CTC is. Its a good course but not sure it is worth $94 on the weekend.
Edit: Saw that you said walk, I can buy that a bit more, but $74 to walk is still a bit expensive. I will say the west metro has a tough public course scene though. Anything within 30min of the city is pricey on the west side.
I’ve got a family cabin in Crosslake…just saying. We can hit https://www.golfgoldeneagle.com/ or Deacons and then get out on the lake after.
I’m not saying all of the ND contingent could make it to Brainerd, but as the most active member of the ND contingent, if that happens, let me know!

(this is a ringing endorsement of this idea if not entirely clear)
This is an ongoing conversation my buddies have. I thought it was 65 to walk CTC maybe they changed. But you are correct. Public golf out west is tough. I like Legends, but paying 100 bucks there kills me.
Living in mpls I can 30 minutes in all directions and normally find some good golf for good rates but i often find that the west is the most expensive and the south has the smallest quality of public options. The East and North metro seems to have found the sweet spot. I do think it is because there is a high concentration of private courses in the West metro.
I am always open to being wrong though, would love to find some good courses that correct my opinion on this. I once thought keller was overrated, i was 100% incorrect on that though.
I couldn’t agree more. I live in St. Louis Park and have found the same thing. Can throw a rock in any direction have it and land it on a private course in the west metro but Brookeview and Meadowbrooke don’t seem worth the money. Braemar is about the only quality course inside 494/694 but they have zero deals, no twilight, no fall/spring discounts.
North/East is where you get your monies worth, Keller, Royal, Victory Links,Troy Burne if you want to drive. All have good twilight deals and are fun courses.
Also in SLP and Meadowbrook front 9 is a pretty good track compared to the other mpls public courses. Show up around 7pm on summer nights and the assistant super just lets you walk out half the time.
Thats how Gross National is, not the best course but 6PM on summer weeknights and its perfect
Braemar is a really really fun track after their remodel/renovation/restoration. I played it in June last year and the course juuuuuuust hadn’t grown in enough to be real good. But if it’s a little more grown in + the greens are rolling a smidge faster…it might be the most fun course that I’ve played in the metro.
The challenge is in getting a tee time if you’re not an Edina resident/cardholder…
I like hearing that. Just bought a house down the road so I’ll have to check out the super twilight scene this summer.
I include Loggers and Bunker, and stoneridge.
I have said this before but $32 with cart at 4:00pm at Bunker during the weekend is an incredible deal. Book the tee time, for 4:00, show up at 3:00, get out by 3:30 and at peak summer you can fit all three 9’s in by sunset.
It’s definitely fun course, I play most of my golf after work so the lack of twilight/accessibility is really the only knock on it.
The only time I was able to play the full 18 was Nov. 3. They were covering greens behind us and I started losing feeling in my fingers around hole 11 when the sun was low. I’ll definitely be getting out there again this summer.
