Today’s official title is “Eternal Chairman of the National Defence Commission”
Whatever you want to use for handicap is up to you and your match play opponent, assuming you agree upon the ground rules before teeing off. Handicap rules at the NSS will be stated prior to the event, but we like to present the illusion of local control for all matches prior.
For matchplay purposes would taking the same X% off both handicaps really do anything? I.e. wouldn’t you be left with the same spread between both players handicaps as prior to the deduction, save for a potential rounding issue?
Surprisingly not. For example, in my first round match we have a 4 and a 12.4 index. 80% handicaps turn that into 3.2 and 9.92 for a difference of 6.72 = 7 strokes, whereas if we just take the 100% and round down the 8.4 it would be 8 strokes.
Went back to my gravesite, Keller GC, after class today. Already been said in here a couple times but my goodness are a lot of these holes going to play way differently, and they still aren’t done!
Here’s 16. They are basically all gone on the left and most on the right. 17 is going to be much easier as well.
That’s nice and all but did they remove all the trees on the right side of 11 AND fill in the valley of death with an extended fairway? My right miss would like to know.
Still have two openings for our match - Saturday’s weather is looking primo and you can’t complain about Chaska being overpriced when it is spring rates.
Was out there on Sunday and there was a constant echo of fore out there. I actually like it better without the trees, but the course doesn’t have much bite now that it’s open. Wonder if they’ll add back in fescue or native areas.
Think places tend to burn that stuff annually. Victory is a great place to play this time of year because their long grass is down to the dirt for a few weeks
I’m playing there tomorrow and can’t wait to see these changes in person. I would not have even recognized 16 without you labeling it. Although maybe I subconsciously suppress memory of that hole because it was the site of the final nail in my 3&2 coffin in our semifinal match.
Me and @nmatti1995 are playing our match on Tuesday the 20th. Since he is coming from down by the metro and I’m trekking from Fargo we are playing at Minnewaska in Glenwood. 1:20 if anyone is interested in joining us.
