np. tanners has some good holes, but pretty so-so overall. its usually in pretty rough shape too. i havent played there in a few years, so that may have changed, so anyone feel free to correct me. i just recall it being consistently muddy and the greens being almost unplayable. but for that money id look for twilight at loggers, stillwater oaks, the royal, white eagle etc.

Let’s put it this way. Tanners is like 5 minutes up the road for me. I think in the last two years I’ve played one 18 hole round there, and have gone to practice chipping and putting there twice in that same time period.

Should also add some additional thoughts on that shit hole.
Last time I used their driving range they had some balls marked Country View golf course, which hasn’t existed for at least two decades.
The only lesson I’ve ever had was there, and the guy didn’t shut up, and didn’t make a single suggestion as to what to do other than giving me the strongest grip ever and a massive snap hook.
Nothing like getting a lesson with trackman while using what he referred to as their “premium” pinnacle range balls, all of which looked like they seen some things in their lifetime. Some poor high school kid had to sort through damn near literal shit to pull out the “premium” balls for his lesson stash.
Final straw was I took the wife out there to hopefully hit some balls on the range and get some dinner and drinks, only to find out the range was closed…at 6pm…on a Thursday. WTF? I was pissed.

haha yea…he’s the guy who runs the place. he’s apparently a very good golfer but some of his stories are a little unbelievable. i think i recall his wife saying he shot a 67 or 66 at pebble beach from the tips and that he shot -11 at tanners one day, by himself, before anyone else played that day.
i haven’t ever heard anyone say anything positive about him

Sounds good, next time i will just count it. Still makes me feel a bit scummy, i would have bet money that the ball was going in if the noodle wasn’t there but its always a thin line on what you should do.

We just liked to keep each other in the match, so no one was ever more than 1 up. Always sad when the highlight of the day wasn’t any of our golf shots, but that our random playing partner’s golf shoe sole fell off during the round. So he decided to play with one intact shoe and one soleless one. And still did pretty well.

Ha! I don’t really know him, but it doesn’t surprise me from the little bit I’ve seen him treat people when I’ve been there. Will need to hear the story this is based on sometime in the future!

If I’m being honest, I was kind of pulling for you based on handicaps, as it looks like we should be playing fairly close to heads-up.
Having seen what giving up a lot of strokes does I was a little afraid of having to face Lonnie, as I’ve got some karma coming in that regard after getting strokes in all my prior matches.

That’s a very appropriate description. I don’t have any specific anecdotes other than that he’s just a general dickhead. The one year I played league there it was the most disorganized clusterfuck I’ve ever seen. 9-hole 2 v 2 best ball regularly took 3 hours to play and he couldn’t care less. Just a scumbag.
