@freesypop wanting to take that last spot but knowing it will hurt his Les Bols bit

Looks like one spot open for Sunday at 8am. @freesypop , seems like you have to play MH to at least give it a fair comparison to Les Bol. For starters, can compare and contrast the barb wire fence (why?) that surrounds LB to the boundary lines at MH.

I’ve got a buddy coming to town later this month and we’re looking for a nicer course to play in the south metro. I was thinking either The Wilds or The Meadows. I’ve never played either, so I’d love any input (or recommendations of other courses to consider).

I booked a 4some at Keller for Thursday the 13th at 11:12 for a pre-NSS4 round. But I am now playing Friday at WBYC and need to cancel the Keller round. Being in town for only 4 days, there is only so much time I can spend golfing and not with family.

Before I just cancel it, anyone want to take it?

I’m assuming we’re hearing crickets because it’s Edinburgh and not for the company :sob: but we still have 2 spots for tomorrow/Friday at 1054a if anyone wants to join…

I don’t know if this is helpful to anyone but I was just able to book flights from Minneapolis to Dublin in May 2024 with Virgin Atlantic for 30,000 miles and $84 fee.
Last time I checked on flights it was around 60,000 miles and $400 fee. So this is a crazy good deal in my opinion.
I’m going with my wife and planning to golf as much as possible while she does some golfing and some sightseeing. May 20 - 31 if anyone wants to meet up for a Guinness in Ireland

Curious, what miles/points did you use? Delta skymiles?

I booked it through Virgin Atlantic so I had to use their miles. Earlier this year I transferred miles from my Chase credit card when they were running a special. I had read that Virgin can be one of the more valuable miles if you can catch the right deal

Anyone played Island View in Waconia? Anything to write home about?

You looking at the Mid Am too?

Oh I did not know that was being played there, I just heard of it recently and was wondering if it was worth the drive out there.

Maybe play it for the first time in tournament conditions!

Restaurant Alma tonight for the anniversary. Enjoyed it, but left a bit to be desired. We’ll get to that. We did the seasonal tasting.

Antipasta highlights: “Hiramasa Crudo with charred herb oil and chile-garlic sauce” this was so good. Like really great sushi without the rice.

Second course highlights: “Buckwheat Crepe”. I wasn’t really sure what I was eating but I thoroughly enjoyed it! So freaking good with the mushrooms.

Main course highlights: this is where personally, I was looking for something more. We had Quail, Sea Bass and Swiss Chard. All were very good with the nod going to the sea bass, and I know this is a me thing, but I’m from a farm in Iowa! I need beef, pork or chicken on my plate if you’re serving me three main courses! Preferably pork.

Desert: some kind of chocolate torte that was tasty. Not my favorite I’ve ever had, but good.

In the end there were parts of the menu I really liked and parts that I’d do something different. I love the fixed menu style and will definitely go back when they change the menu because I can tell there is some real real good cooks there and I know whatever they are putting out is gonna be great.

Bonus review!!!: we stopped by “Gai Noi” after doing the mini golf atop the Walker today. The “Basil Wings” are sooooo good. Might rival Monte Carlo for best dry rub wings downtown.

Not sure where we’re going next! In the end I would definitely recommend Alma though if you’re doing dinner for something special. They get the small things there.
