The full courses do really stink because I like to play at a variety of places. That said, I have some friends that have Cards to Saint Paul courses and Braemar and both have relative ease to finding tee times at their respective courses. - I think that is going to have to be the move for me next year and find a “home” club

I think the play right now for weeknight public golf is to join a couple of leagues where you aren’t required to meet tee times.

Looks like people shouldn’t schedule their matches at Bolstad.

moral of the story, don’t let @freesypop join your club

I was pleasantly surprised when I played at Baker a couple weeks back and they had one hole closed so they only charged a 9 hole green fee.

I got this 30 seconds ago and ran straight here to try to ahead of it. Truly disturbing stuff out of the University of Minnesota and I won’t try to defend it. I hate to see it and will certainly be monitoring the situation.

@freesypop and Les Bolstad, two peas in a pod

I’m trying to figure out what they are doing with the other 5/6 greens that were in rough shape.

Par three, par three start is a tough scene.

It’s too bad your old home course is in fantastic shape with 18 smooth greens rolling over an 11 most days….

Looking forward to watching @OnlyLayingUp dismantle @Daniel there in a few short hours!

@Kenney and I completed our 1st round match during a beaut of an early morning at Keller today. It was a family affair with Jack’s brother and my cousin rounding out the foursome.

The front was bloody with the first halved hole at #8, but I managed to be 3 up after 9. We had some classy halves, then I completed the one-two punch of scummy free drop in the left natural area to win #14, then parred #15 using 1 of my 3 pops to win 5&3. Then Jack had some excellent timing - and fortunate for me - to hit the shot of the day with his 2nd shot approach on 16 and calmly tapped in for eagle (!)…playing from the tips (!!)

Thanks for the match, Jack!

I had to rage for a few minutes on the 10th tee yesterday when a walker, rider, and the riders girlfriend (who had clearly not played much golf) cut in front of us at the turn & had us 3 holes behind the group we were trailing by hole 11. Thankfully they let us through at 14, but the course was already backed up.

Mind you this is a $50+ course at twilight times on weeknights…

I am on board for an etiquette test at this point. If you’re not golfing early af in the morning there’s a >50% chance you’re going to see some egregious shit.

Edit: @kirkeide1 I feel your pain deeply. I’ve been sitting at home on these perfect nights wishing I was golfing but they’re all backed up with leagues & make it miserable. Tough times!!

Siiick

I have argued for years that everyone should have a handicap for public play and it determines which tee you play from. no more 18s from the tips.

At this point in my life, I prefer to play tees that are going to make the round enjoyable and not make me hate everything about golf at the end of the day. It doesn’t matter if I play from the very front tees. I am not going to be breaking any course records. So why not at least try to play from a tee that I am going to enjoy my round from. No need to try and be the alpha male in the group.

yup. outside of competition, i’m at least one up. and usually play combo or two up on 5 tee places. i ain’t paying to be kicked in the teeth.
