You may be confusing my rabid vikings homerism for the gophers. I root for Iowa State (Harvard of the Midwest). Gophers could lose every game in every sport for the rest of time and I would feel nothing.
He’s probably conflating your love for the University’s golf course with a love for said university.
Cracks knuckles
Golf:
- We Ko Pa
- Sunridge Canyon
- Silverado is a good Muni option in Scottsdale
- Avoid the Phoenecian. Most overpriced round of golf in Phoenix.
Restaurants:
- Glai Bahn - great Thai food - better than anything in the cities.
- Sumo Maya - solid mexican/asian fusion and there’s usually some cool cars in the parking lot.
- Isabella’s Kitchen - great patio on one of the Greyhawk golf courses
- Second Story - best cocktail bar I’ve ever been to.
Haven’t played but I’ve heard great things about Ak-Chin Southern Dunes (1 hour South of Scottsdale).
Mountain Shadows is a pretty fun short course if you only have a couple hours.
It’s the best public other than We-Ko-Pa. Also half the price of all the other ones.
I’d add to these:
- Southern Dunes
- Talking Stick O’odham
Restaurants:
- Pizzeria Bianco
- SOL Cocina
s/o Chef’s Table - Pizza.
We talking public only or private as well?
God damnit Bax.
Mountain Shadows gets some good hype, and i’ve never been, but i think for $100 for a par 3/short course it’s a bit over priced from what I’ve been told. Was down there last week and thought about it but at $100 wasn’t too keen. Howeva, GolfNow does have some deals for $50
It’s a real fun place to whip @BaxterMSP and DD by about 29, worth every penny.
Was just down there with the wife last week, had to do it to em. Obv coming from Young Joni land. It was good, crust was outstanding.
Pics or it didn’t happen:

In a fucking sandstorm too
A million percent. But everything in Scottsdale/PHX is overpriced.
Can confirm this is true, totally worth the drive/potential cow “scents” from the nearby farms.
Also add Dinosaur Mountain and Las Sendas for golf.
Great spot to watch a game or just chill, if you’re into a good cigar and/or whisk(e)y, is Fox’s Cigar Bar in Old Town.
100% worth the drive down to Southern Dunes. I enjoyed Longbow in Mesa as well. Pretty sure they host or have hosted some LPGA events there.
The wife just showed me an VRBO that her coworker and some friends are staying in next week. I looked at two of the pictures and had to laugh because I’d previously looked at the place when checking out options in Maricopa because of Southern Dunes. I warned her to let her coworker know the town stinks both in a literal and figurative sense, but if she’s so inclined there is a great golf course nearby.
I feel like I am losing some of my identity
Because of all the SG off the tee you’re about to gain or?
