Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

I can find out. Last I heard this was shot down. The “right across the road” isn’t Pioneer Creek (which is right across the road) but Dave Meyer’s land (family, maybe?) that is undeveloped. Again, my buddy Dan is a member at WS, and I know Dave and his son, so I could ask, but I heard shot down (most recently)

What was shot down? Windsong owns the property directly across the road to the north of the current course, right where this is.

If about Renaissance, who knows, but the drawing above has Fought’s name on it.

They do own the parcels across the street (from the EAW with the city):

Grabbed this from the Planning Commission agenda packet.

Looks like Fought is still the architect from the design plan (cut off from my screen grab).

Based on where they’re at in the City approval process, I’d expect them to break ground this spring.

yep, they own Pioneer Creek too. WS is built on their land, which is why Dave bought it when it was struggling.

They approved this whole thing at the next meeting, so yeah, looks like they can start now, pending whatever they need from the County or State permitting authorities. https://www.ci.independence.mn.us/files/388/6/346/Independence-Planning-Commission-Meeting-Packet-10.18.2022-PUBLIC.pdf

I found this part to be quite interesting:

Only 30 additional members for a second course? Hard to believe…unless, I suppose, you’ve spent any time at Windsong.

All in all, this is pretty fucking cool.

so I checked in with my guy…and he says simply “Yeah, everything’s approved, but I’ll believe they’re starting when dirt starts to fly…have you seen the economy?”

so, all in all, I think it’s a “let’s get it approved while we can” situation. Everything is Dave’s money, so he can do whatever he wants. The number of members is irrelevant, it’s a benevolent dictatorship, which is the best scenario.

Congrats to @MackReiter and @freesypop on making sure to keep PJ around until 2029!!! Looks like rowing extra hard got him a :::checks notes::: fifth extension in the past six years.

Fickell, Fleck, and Ferentz. Too many “F” coaches in our little triangle here. Coach with the worst “F” head to head next year should lose their job.

Wait no, I take that back as a Badger, odds are it’s going to be us who lose to both while we “re-build”…

I think we will be approximately equal to what we were this year competitively. We got rid of nebbish Mertz, new OC with a more modern/fresh approach, Fickell bringing a lot of UC players via portal, kept Braelon, the defense could be a little dodgy for sure, but I more or less see another ~.500 season.

Iowa is dead as long as the Ferentz clan is allowed to operate without any consequence, which appears to not be changing anytime soon.

How many years does Tanner Morgan have left, though. He’s only like 31, right?

I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.

  1. I am as anti a PJ guy as there is.
  2. The Big 12 is where real football is played anyway.

First off, I’m insulted that you claim to be “as anti a PJ guy as there is”. My credentials are impeccable on this and I refuse to let anyone claim to dislike Petty Officer PJ more than I do.

Also, you have to own this as a Gophers homer. Them’s the rules

Heading to Phoenix in January after a few quick days in Pinehurst. I wanted to get some recommendations from the Minnesota contingency before asking the locals
