As someone who just came back from near there, I’d say Elk Rapids was a fun little course right next to a lake, so it had some nice views and wasn’t too tough, but a great time (maybe because I was -2 for the last 5 holes - DON’T ask about the first 4). Whatever you do, I’d stay away from The Legend at Shanty Creek… ugh I wish we hadn’t finished there on a whim yesterday.
Checks out. Would recommend. Forgot my belt on a work trip. Luckily a Walmart was just right up the road on Maple. But still managed to grab a cup in the drive thru.
And current situation:
Oh sick! Maybe I’ll swing in tomorrow morning
You would have passed right by my place hah. There’s a brand new brewery in that plaza with the Walmart that’s supposed to be great
It’s a killer night, enjoy the game!
Last minute need to grab a hotel in Traverse City for 16 guys in early July.
Is Delamar our best option (they have availability for the entire group) at this point?
That’s a tough time to be trying to book, most of the inventory is locked up by now so it’s almost a take what you can get situation.
Luckily it’s a Tuesday night so we have a few options.
One spot open for East vs. West, July 20th at Forest Akers. Come hang out with the Flock for 36 holes of golf across both the East and West courses
Check it out here
Thanks for the reminder…just signed up.
Why do you say this? I have played it twice and have enjoyed it.
Maybe I am biased because the second time, my group went out despite a little rain, and end up having the course to ourselves. (It only rained the first two holes than was perfect.)
What the fuck.
Yeah, who brings a gun to a splash pad?
A piece of shit cunt
Was annoyed when the local news interrupted US open broadcast. Then saw the story and was irate. Fucking evil scourge. Tell me more about mental health.
Update here, shooter dead, was “known to police.”
Yeah I don’t know. Maybe it’s not fair, and I should give it another shot, but the combo of the comedown from Belvedere and U of M the 2 previous days, my general lack of excitement about courses on the side of ski hills, complete inability to walk the course, unexpected rain for half the round, severely overwatered conditions everywhere that had many holes with destroyed portions of fairway and rough, penal layout with little strategic choice options on almost all holes, fairly high price for other options I’d seen in the area, or just being tired after 27/27 the days before and many hours in the car… all in all I just thought it stunk and couldn’t have hated it much more and we had the course to ourselves and played in under 3.5 hrs. Which for me is usually a guaranteed “I love this” kinda factor… just stunk to end the trip on such a low note.
As for splash pad shootings , yeah this is the shit that just makes me wanna figure out a way to get employed abroad and take my kids to another country for the next few decades. Last weekend my wife was at her hometown’s festival with our kids, and someone got shot the next day at the exact area they were at less than 24 hrs before. So disgusted and hoping somehow there is a massive change coming. I don’t think everywhere else is perfect, but people aren’t getting shot at public gatherings so consistently like they are here. I believe having legitimate fear for safety constantly is traumatizing our nation and allowing for the massive polarization, that feels like it’s increasing constantly the last decade +, to exist. Collectively we have so much more strength than being divided, and the the greedy power brokers know and profit off of this, furthering the divides and the gap of haves and have nots at an exponential rate. Historically the Industrial Revolution, will look like a turtle race compared to the changes humanity is experiencing currently due to nuclear war, climate change, tech and AI obliterating how we as have lived and will live in the future (assuming we have a world that allows that).
Yeah I have noticed recently that the first thing I do when we take our daughters to a festival, water park, etc is figure out where we would go or where we could hide if shit where to happen. I don’t want to make this political by any means. I’m hunter but really think something needs to be done to control who has access to guns in our country. I don’t know what that is, what that looks like and don’t want to move this thread into that conversation for the next day. It’s just sad so many things that families and individuals should be doing to have fun turn into tragedies.
The article said he just pulled up, got out of his car and went through 3 magazines, so around like 25 shots and then left. Just randomly shooting. It’s hard to wrap your head around the mindset someone has to be in to get to that place.
Putting out a long shot call out to see if anyone could potentially assist my and @auribe14 with getting on Radrick farms on July 2nd for a match?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Following up on this since we are just over a week out. Will be in Grand Rapids next weekend with @cussingmussel. We’re hitting the DeVries trifecta between Friday (28th) and Saturday (29th) and would love some Fresh Coast company. We’ve got foursomes booked for: Pilgrim’s Run on Friday at 3:30, the Mines on Saturday at 7:36 and Diamond Springs on Saturday at 2:30. Have 2 spots open for each tee time. If anyone is interested in being a sherpa for one or two or all three of the rounds, just let us know. Will probably give any open spots back next Wednesday if they haven’t filled.
