Roll Call - Metro NYC

Checking in from Brooklyn (Gowanus adjacent). Play most my golf out at Bethpage but also some of the more local spots (Dyker, Marine Park, Staten Island, or even T-word Ferry Point when I’m particularly desperate/flush).

I know Bethpage Blue & Yellow opened up last week and Dyker appears to be open. Anyone know of any other local spots that are open? Anyone played any yet?

Hey everyone, just moved to the Bronx, always looking for people to play with. I try to play every weekend (weather permitting). I am also looking to join a private club if it can fit into my budget. Split rock and Pelham Park, and Van Cortlandt park are my go to places at the moment but I am interested in playing anywhere anytime.

Welcome to the area. We have a decent size group of guys that play quite a bit of golf together. @HibernatingBear can send you an invite to our WhatsApp group and you can also join the RACDG chapter for access to monthly events. I’m a big fan of Pelham. It’s a great layout.

Welcome @chaoscjc ! Hit me up in DMs if you’re interested in joining the WhatsApp

Work in Manhattan and went to Five Iron Golf for the first time yesterday. Great way to keep the swing sharp on cold days. Myself and a buddy of mine are looking to go more often, probably once every couple weeks. They charge $65 per hour for a sim rental. Use trackman tech. Would love to get others involved.

Hey Guys - Not new to the area (Born and raised New Yorker) but lack a crew of friends that play golf. Would love to meet up and #getinvolved if people around the city are around and teeing it up.

Matchplay Brackets are up, and will be updated as matches happen, for those who want to follow along:

@Jack11211 is it possible to join still? I see a number of Bye’s listed.

@HibernatingBear is the captain so I will defer to him, but I think given the seaon is just starting, we can probably make it work. We have taken the effort to organize and put more structure to a series of events this year, and have setup a membership, which gets you access to events, such as the matchplay: General 1 — RACDG NY Metro Chapter

Thanks @Jack11211

@HibernatingBear I just signed up for RACDG NY - excited to meet up with crew this summer.

I got you covered. Will send you a DM with the invite to the main chat and then once you join will add you to the “events” chat

Hey guys. New to the society here. Living in Brooklyn and I play a lot of the local NYC golf. Just joined Essex County CC last fall so I’m playing out there mostly, but always looking for suggestions on other tracks in the area.

There are a bunch of us in that area. We play at Rock Spring a bunch as well as all the other muni’s. If you ever need a 4th let us know, I’m a well struck driver away from Essex! We have a What’s App chat that is full of sickos in the are if you’d like to get involved let me know!

Hey @HibernatingBear I’m a 5 hcp that’s called NYC home for ~10 years. I’ll be back home in BK this June after a digital-nomad golf tour across the southern US from Orlando to LA. Would love to learn more about RACDG if there’s availability!

I grew up in WO and spent my HS/early college years caddying at the County. It is my favorite course around and in my opinion, you won’t find a better track in the area. For public courses, Rock Spring is a great option since going public. They’re letting it go a little bit but the layout is still top quality and it doesn’t get overwhelmed like the better county courses in the area.

Has anyone ever played Laurel Links on the north fork? If so, any thoughts?

What is the story with tee times for Eisenhower courses? Do you have to register with Nassau County to get access to them? Anyone have any success just showing up as a walk on?

Underrated, in my opinion. Great, rustic feel. Lots of contours on the greens. It’s a tough track, but wayward shots can be found and recovery not impossible. It’s a modern design in natural settings of sand, and pine trees, and scrub brush of LI, once you get out of eye shot of some weird housing. There is not much elevation change, and some of the greens feel a bit sameish, maybe I’m not remembering correctly, but felt greens were aerial, when there seemed potential for more ground game. Par 3’s stick out in my mind more, and they were really cool. Worth a trip out East!

believe you need a leisure pass to get access to the online tee time site, but usually just showing up should get you out, though more likely on white/blue over red
