Roll Call: Massachusetts

Noticed some new faces in this thread recently. This was posted a while ago but we’ve had some drop outs in the last few days, so if you want to put actual names and faces to people and make golf connections with some cool people we have a few open spots at the Northeast NIT qualifier.

Mike and Patty’s…small breakfast sandwich shop in Bay Village is a must.

I’d echo the South End recs of Picco and Toro. Toro might be my favorite restaurant in the city. I’d also throw Kava in there too.

Toro is my favorite restaurant in the city. If you want an Italian Enoteca type vibe, Coppa is also really good in the South End.

Plus with COVID, they now have reservations

Was in the Berkshires for the first time this weekend. Played CC of Pittsfield on my way to a bach party. Thought the course was very solid. Couple quirky holes but didn’t overdo it other than 1 terrible hole. Anyway, made me want to get back out in that area and play some golf. Taconic has been high on my list for a while. What’s the deal w public tee times? I checked online and on this thread and didn’t get a clear answer. Does it open up after Labor Day or do I just call, have my pro call etc?

I know non-member can get on Taconic weekends after 1pm. I tried to get on earlier but had no luck. Weekdays might have a bit more flexibility. Also check out Waubeeka if you’re headed out that way.

Had not heard of Waubeeka. I will check that out. I went straight to the source and called the pro-shop. They confirmed the after 1PM on weekends and holidays. You can just call the shop to book times. Cannot book more than 5 days in advance.

Hit me up when ya wanna play, we can work something out

I’ll be in Massachusetts, (Mid Cape), from August 27 until late September.

Hit me up if you want to play some golf. I’d love to get out to Marion, George Wright, and a couple of Cape courses while I’m there.

Marion should be very easy. It is just a little bit over the bridge. DM me if you’d like to play around the Mashpee area as well.

Picked a real good weekend for a last minute trip the Martha’s Vineyard. Was supposed to play Farm Neck on Sunday, thats probably not happening now. We have plans to maybe get nine in at Farm Neck on Tuesday evening, but I wondered if theres better options. I’d love to hear a power ranking of these options:

  • Nine holes at Farm Neck
  • Nine or 18 Mink Meadows
  • Make the trek to Chappaquiddick links (shoutout to that logo)
  • Other

I cant find Vineyard Gold Club or Edgartown on golfnow so these will have to do

Just played probably my worst round in about 5 years at the Jones course at Pinehills today. I love that place and they probably shouldn’t let me back on there. The only upside is my son beat me by 10 shots and it’s his birthday. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Coincidentally, I was also planning to do this. I made a tee time for Farm Neck Sunday a few days ago, then switched to Saturday when I saw the forecast. I was planning to making it a day trip though and take the ferry from Quonset, Rhode Island, and then walk the mile or two from the dock to the course, but I realized the first arrival and last departure wouldn’t actually let me fit in the full round, so I ended up cancelling altogether and will probably try to go on a weekday when the ferry times work out.

@GregG12 an answer to your question in the other thread you created is there are tons of good public tracks but all pretty much outside the city. These are just a few:

South: Presidents, Marion, Crosswinds
North: Cape Ann, Butter Brook, Beverly Golf and Tennis
West: Red Tail, Sandy Burr
Cape: Olde Barnstable, Bass River, Highland Links, Widows Walk

If you want to play Captains or Cranberry Valley, hit me up

Add butter brook and cyprian keys to the west list

Yeah Butter Brook I had north. Let’s say north west. Lol

How’d you get on CC of Pittsfield? I thought/assumed it was private. Definitely second Waubeeka as a Berkshires option.

The pro at Pittsfield worked as an assistant at my course on the cape. I also worked at the course in HS/college so I know him pretty well. Messaged him that I’d be out that way and he paired me up w some members.

This course should never be recommended to anyone ever. Seriously - never play it.

Wachusett CC and Highfields are my 2 favorite public tracks in Central MA, Kettle Brook probably 3rd. My home club (Marlborough CC) does public tee times on Monday/Tuesdays as well by calling the golf shop.
