Roll Call: Maryland

NIT/NLU event in Roanoke VA still has spots available for sat at 1:30

3.5 hours south of DC on 81

Man, wish I’d found this group a long time ago. I live in Locust Point and play a lot at Clifton Park and Pine Ridge… but I venture out to try other courses from time to time, too.

Played Enterprise yesterday for the first time in a few years and was surprised how good the conditions were.

Played in Rolling Roads 1 day summer member guest todday. Course is in great shape as usual and once the bunker renovation is done it will be really really good.

I have seen some photos from their superintendent of the bunker work. It does look really good.

The par 3s are going to be awesome. They’ve got about 6 holes all the way done and probably 3-4 more half way done. Should be all the way done by the fall. We were hitting in to construction work on the par 3 10th. Made for a very intimidating shot

Hey everyone, the family and I are headed out to Chincoteague Island this upcoming week for vacation. Wondering if there are any courses on the Eastern Shore anyone recommends that I should check out?

Captains Cove is near Chincoteague and is a decent 9 hole course (two different angles for tee boxes to play a full 18) from my memory and the couple times I played it when I was younger
Great Hope is about 40 minutes from Chincoteague and for the price is a pretty good track; just out in the middle of nowhere.
Almost all of the Ocean City courses are good besides Ocean Resorts.
If you are looking for somewhere to play on the way down or back (If you are coming down 50); Hog Neck, Queenstown, Hyatt and Nutter’s are all good options

Thank you! I was looking at Captains Cove as it is the closest course I could find but after looking at the scorecard it looked almost like they were just making you play the same 9 again and calling it the back 9 lol so thank you for that clarification.

I also looked into Great Hope as well as Rum Pointe.

So I played at The Woodlands yesterday. It was OK. Good conditions, well maintained (almost too well, got drenched by a sprinkler on the tee box on one of the par 3’s), nice clubhouse… none of the holes really stuck out though. For the money ($87) I think I’d spend a few more bucks and play at nearby Waverly Woods.

Josh - U/A Tour on the Shore player? I see you on the list for Jeffersonville on Saturday. Good luck - looks like I go off at 9:20.

Sorry I missed this - Bay Creek is fantastic, down in Cape Charles. Bit of a hike from Chincoteague, but worth the drive in my opinion. Hope you had a great weekend!

Fairway Hills has Costco range balls. First time I have seen them at any course.

I know a lot of people play them and like them, but seeing that would just make me wonder where else the course was being cheap lol

Could be what they did with their last version which was recalled because of issues with the cover. What would you do with a billion golf balls that would get chewed up on wedge strikes?

For the Marylanders who would want to come down.

We’d love to have you guys out!

Hoping y’all can help me out. I am heading to Annapolis for a weekend with my wife in mid November and wanted suggestions for oysters/brunch/bars to head to. Appreciate any help!

Sailor Oyster bar (never actually been but heard good things)
Boatyard Bar & Grill (good local scene, crab cakes)
Davis’ Pub (local dive with solid bar food)
Stan & Joes Saloon (sports bar with live music most nights)
Severn Inn (decent brunch but great views)
Blackwall Hitch (overall good food, live music, pricey)
Dry 85 (whiskey bar with great food)
Vida Taco (taco bar with great margs)
Red red wine (wine bar with decent food)
1747 Pub (beer garden with live music, decent food)
The Point (about 10 minutes outside of Annapolis but probably the best combo of food, views, and vibe around)

Then you have your bars that have been around forever; McGarveys & Middletons which are good to go have a beer or 2.

My personal favorite downtown is McGarvey’s. Very typical bar food and oysters but very good. Some of that is nostalgia for me personally as we’ve been going there to kickoff our Christmas Eve for as far back as I can remember and also went in between our wedding and the reception. But would recommend for sure.

Vin 909 in Eastport is a great wine, small plates, and pizza bar. One of our favorite date night spots.

Joss is right on Main Street and is a good sushi place as well.
