I agree with ChicPhila. Revere and Rio Secco is also good. Bali Hai is supper convenient but overpriced. You guys have a rental car? I can also see about picking you guys as you get more of a plan.
The problem with golf in Vegas is that all the good courses are at the edges of the valley. Outside of Wynn and Bali Hai, which are both stupidly overpriced and gaudy, your only close option to the Strip is Las Vegas National. Itās an older course (was part of the Las Vegas Invitational rotation for a couple of years) with lots of trees/shade (useful in August) and only a 10-15 minute ride from most places on the Strip. Not the best, but itās an option.
Next closest decent course thatās not a ridiculous distance away is Desert Pines. Perry Dye design, can feel a little claustrophobic with all the pine trees planted everywhere, but you can have a good time out there.
No rental car. We will be taking an Uber or something like when we get there. Thanks for the recommendations!
Thanks for the suggestions!
NV golfers, or anyone that wants to help kids get into golf; I am participating in the 100 hole hike for kids. Any amount helps. No pressure.
Will you please HELP ME get kids ACCESS to golf?
One of the most underrated benefits for Southern Nevada junior golfers is YOUTH on COURSE.
This amazing member benefit allows our kids to play golf at many TOP Southern Nevada golf courses for just $5.
So, think of it this way, for every $5 you donate, a deserving young kid in Southern Nevada gets to live his or her dream of playing golf!
I am playing in the 100 HOLE HIKE on July 29, and requesting you donate/pledge to help the Vegas Golf Network, reach out goal of $2500 for the event.

Access is MUCH needed for kids to improve and feel like they belong.
THANKS!
Moving to North West Vegas next week, will be reading up on this post for suggestions.
Welcome! Iām nearby in Centennial Hills. Give a holler when your settled (though Iāll be back east for the beginning of Sept) and weāll get some golf on the books.
If itās a more permanent move, I recommend getting your Nevada state ID asap. Makes golf way more affordable here.
Thanks! Iāll be near Centennial Hills/Wyeth Ranch area myself. Fulltime move, so will definitely get on getting Nevada state ID. Iāll be out for a work conference early September as well but will reach out once settled in.
re: ID - making an appointment at one of the DMV offices is the way to go. Wednesdays are the only days they allow āwalk-ins,ā itās usually a nightmarish line. It is a relatively easy process if you have all your info in line and make the appointment.
Moved from SoCalā¦are people way nicer in Vegas or are people in Socal just all assholes lol. Customer service is sooo much better here.
This is a service industry and hospitality town. I find the people working here usually pretty damn pleasant. The drivers, on the other hand⦠I actually miss Northeast drivers!
Any recommendations for driving range in the Centennial Hills area?
Painted desert in centennial is off mats, but it is a range. Not my favorite even though I live literally on the course.
Las Vegas golf club is only about 19-12 minutes south and has a grass range (not sure if they go off grass for maintenance at any time).
Angel Park has a 2 sided range with lights. Open early and late. Mats. Limited flight balls. About 15 minutes from centennial hills.
Those are all buy buckets places.
15 minutes north of centennial hills is Paiute. Beautiful practice facilities with grass ranges, chipping areas, putting, etc. free when you book a round or $30 flat rate for as long as you wanna stay and practice. They close early though (at like 3 each day).
Sweet thanks! Finally settling in and need to get some range time in. Painted Desert is just couple miles from me so likely easiest to sneak away for quick session during the day but will check out the others too.
Painted Desert range was off grass today. Balls werenāt the best but Iāve seen worse in San Diego. Def not the best for really gauging where your ball is landing but decent due to being few minutes away.
Hey guys I have a friend (who is my law professor) who will be in Vegas for 10 days. I need some recommendations for courses that are priced reasonably and some non strip related recommendations. Anybody have some spots that locals haunt food, activities, and courses. He will be out in October around 18-20th?
Golf recommendations here: https://refuge.nolayingup.com/t/las-vegas-golf-recommendations/1330/403?u=chickphila
Off strip good food/drinks:
Herbs&Rye - fantastic cocktails and āhappy hourā pricing on steaks!
Estherās Kitchen- my fav restaurant in Vegas currently. Italian. Great pizza. Great vibe. Doesnāt break the bank. In arts district.
Velveteen Rabbit - also Arts district, really interesting cocktails.
ReBAR- part bar part vintage store. Surprise, also in arts district. (Yes I love the arts district).
Le Thai - Fremont street near the El Cortez. Really great Thai food.
Activities:
Neon Museum
Mob museum
Hiking or scenic drive at red rock canyon.
Thank you very much!!
Got my Nevada ID and ready to get some golf in now that work trips are over with for the next couple of months. Also shout out to the LV Golf Superstore who swapped out the broken shaft in my driver without having to send it back to Titleist for warranty repair.
@ChickPhilA, probably a tad late on this, but congrats on winning the Net Division of the Nevada AM! Havenāt been on here in forever but Iām a local in Vegas and saw the SNGA post earlier this month about it!
