I would only do this as a last resort. It’s possible to get on considering LA is now allowing walk ups and they don’t make you pre-pay for tee times, which limits penalties on no-shows.
Are you coming out for the Boomerang?
Yes @TacoBucket , you going too? My first TFE event. Not really sure what to expect, but looks like a cool course and good opportunity to meet a bunch of fellow passionate golfers!
Yessir! Looks like it’ll be a lot of fun. A bunch of us from the LA area will be there and a handful of Ojai locals too. Wasn’t sure how many people, if any, were traveling in for it so great to hear at least a few are.
looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people!
I think the bookings start at 0500 (at least the County courses do). That may be why there was nothing available at 0601.
so i managed to get a single time at Griffith Park Wilson Course AND Los Robles for sunday morning, looking for which one i should choose. anyone with recent conditions feedback, preferences, etc? thanks!!
For me, its Los Robles and it’s not really close. The holes are much more interesting and the conditioning is far better.
Yeah the only reason to play Wilson over Robles is so you can walk the same track the Strapped Boys did and try to recreate Max’s moonwalk putt on 4. I actually like Wilson quite a bit as a muni course but it’s not really fair to compare to Los Robles. Additionally it’ll be a much easier drive.
Wish I would’ve known about The Boomerang,
I played Soule this morning and it was beautiful up in Ojai, the sun broke out just as we were hitting the back nine.
Thanks all. The 630 at wilson clinches the deal vs. 830 at Robles. Thanks!!
S’up everyone. My buddy has a 2 at Rancho Park tomorrow 5/12 at 1130am that he can’t make. Perfect for me but looking for a 2nd. Need to let him know by 1130am today. Thanks.
Pandemic is officially over, gentlemen.
Penmar and Roosevelt are sending out fivesomes again.
Sigh.
What a disgrace. We all saw how awesome max groups of 4 & 10 minute spacing was and LA City golf is just like “naaaaaaa, f that”.
I really hope they keep the 10 minute spacing (I know they won’t). I played Rancho Park at 9:30 on Sunday and we got around in under four and a half hours which is basically unheard of for weekends at Rancho. The conditioning has been much better there recently too; it’s truly a great track with those two variables, especially the back nine.
Yes, this. I’ve played Rancho a few times in the last 12 months during the week, and it’s been like 4:20 at worst. Please god, don’t go back.
Got a fivesome at 710 for tomorrow, the 22nd, at Penmar. Forgot to cancel, now they’re gonna charge me the fee. Anyone want it? Contact me and let’s arrange a mutually beneficial outcome. Cheers.
in my experience, LA city courses never charge the no show fee.
Yeah, I’ve cancelled before by phone and had them say “no problem”—this was the first time they gave me grief, so I’m not sure how serious they’ve gotten. Fingers crossed.
Ayo, I’m gonna be in LA for a work trip (LAAFB) mid June probably a Sunday-Thursday, with Sunday and Thursday being travel days. I wanna get at least one round in on one of those travel days. I’m guessing I’ll be staying in the El Segundo area. Any tips on which tracks I should shoot for. May have to split the rental car w/ co-workers (maybe one casual golfer along for the ride) so the closer the better. I’m also a mid-high handicap and not looking for carnage on my day off. Thanks in advance!
