Roll Call: L.A. County (Rustic Canyon and the Coachella Valley are not in L.A. County)

Soule is privately owned/managed now by this guy Keith. Good guy, generally on site too.

Was it really bought from the county? My understanding is it’s always been a muni though for sure the operator may have changed.

Both facilities are long term lease deals I believe

Yeah, I’m wrong; it’s just a management situation. It looks like it’s a 20-year lease currently.

Rustic is one of those weird ‘land use lease but the course is still owned privately’ deals you get in golf. Soule describes itself as a muni.

Damn I am weirdly going to be in LA this weekend too (flying in from CT). Don’t think I will be able to make it though unfortunately.

I happened to run into Shackelford last year and we talked a lot about Rustic. He was lamenting how much the owner/lessor sucks.

He was on a Fried Egg pod a little while ago and mentioned it to Andy as well. Didn’t say anything explicit but the implication that they suck came through loud and clear.

If Rustic doesn’t become the first Refuge-owned course, then what are we even doing here?

You’re the lawyer, figure out what needs to be done.

After your duel this weekend of course. I want you to focus.

You already know.

Exactly, you’re the LAWYER.

You’re looking for the BANKERS.

Hi all

Ive been talking to @anon68983737 privately about this but thought I’d throw it out there…

I get in to LAX on the 2nd. Too late for golf. But could possible play on the 3rd if it’s early or late. I’m then back on the 11th and could play that day or the morning of the 12th as I fly out at 5pm.

Anyone got anything goin’ on?

The entire operation at RC that day was a train wreck from start to finish. The dude in the pro shop taking my money was an a-hole… “oh, you are part of THAT big group” said with pure disdain. No beverage cart on the course, not a Marshall on site, and then the topper was the carpet cleaning at 4PM in the clubhouse. Who schedules that for operating hours? It seemed to me that no one was on the course in the middle of the day except for us and they appeared to be almost pissed that we were even there to disrupt their day. Like we were inconveniencing them. Bizarre behavior.

(No idea where else to post this) I have 2 spots open at 12:30 on Saturday at Wilson if anyone’s interested.

I am visiting from Boston and looking to get out Thursday morning (2/27). Weekday morning I know, but thought I would check. Anyone around?

Due to previous form I’m expecting you to have a round lined up at LACC…
