Roll Call: L.A. County (Rustic Canyon and the Coachella Valley are not in L.A. County)

live not too far from rustic, would be down to join yall if you want a 3rd

This is the other best option (after Sandpiper) in the SB area, without a drive, for sure. Over the hill, but not a long drive. Totally different vibe from piper, but often you can get deals if you play both.

Long-time lurker, first time poster - finally created an account to share a semi-local deal. If youā€™re looking to make a day out of Sandpiper, thereā€™s a good deal running on Golf Moose - $129 for Sandpiper with a free replay. Same deal for Rancho San Marcos for $69.

I bought the Sandpiper voucher when I saw the deal the other week (the free replay is what really sold me), but havenā€™t trekked up from Long Beach to use it yet. The website seems to have good reviews - hopefully someone on here has used them and can vouch.

Holy shit yeah thatā€™s a steal. Buying now thanks!

Also, @Lazstradamus just reminded me that itā€™s the Genesis that week. Anyone planning on going? I might do Sandpiper one day and Genesis the other, instead of playing 2 days.

I have used Golfmoose deals previously. Very easy to do and the courses have always been very cooperative.

Friends in 405 traffic-induced misery,

Iā€™m in town next weekend and my buddies booked a round at Los Verdes for Saturday morning at 9:24 am. I know itā€™s notoriously slow there, so how long of a round are we looking at and should we consider other options if itā€™s going to be a death march?

played on a saturday w/ an 1130 ish start like a mo. ago. took a full 6 hrsā€¦honestly try and start on the back if theyll let you ha. thats the only reason to go there IMO

plus, depending on where youā€™re coming from, youā€™ll need to give yourself plenty of time before and after the round for the drive. Thereā€™s no easy way to get into or out of the peninsula.

Woof. Figured as much. Guess weā€™ll have plenty of time to enjoy the scenery on the back. Good call as well on the drive time in and out of RPV.

I feel like Iā€™m the 10th out of towner in a row, but looks like Iā€™m coming in Feb 23rd. Whatā€™s the daylight situation right now, how late can you play to? Trying to figure out if I can get a full round in.

Maybe 530-40ishā€¦ I would check with Rustic on when the carts have to be back in

Where are you staying?

Probably in Pasadena since that is where my meeting is Monday.

Rustic is about an hour and thereā€™s also Santa Anita GC 15 minutes away which @thefriedegg has raved about as another hidden gem.

The 18th fairway at Santa Anita makes the 14th at Pasatiempo look tame. Pretty fun course if its convenient, but not worth a special trip. Pair it with an afternoon at the track though, and youā€™ve got yourself a day!

Santa Anita was my home course in high schoolā€¦ It is fun and Iā€™ve been meaning to go back and play it.

Just circling around, we ended up playing Rustic on Friday, Soule Park on Saturday, Olivas Links and Soule Park on Sunday, and Rustic again on Monday morning. We stayed in Ventura.

We plan on making this a semi-regular golf trip. Rustic and Soule are fricken amazing! Olivas is good as well, just not quite on the same level, IMO.

Thanks for everyoneā€™s input on this.

See what the airlines can do for me in terms of arrival and daylight. Waiting 30 min for my golf bag at LAX bag claim will be a killer.

Iā€™m going to be out there 4-5 times the rest of the year so Iā€™ll be able to hit a few spots on different trips.

You played Rustic the day of the NIT event and we never met up, thatā€™s too bad. What time did yā€™all tee off?

I think we teeā€™d off at eight. Boy was it windy!!
