Roll Call: L.A. County (Rustic Canyon and the Coachella Valley are not in L.A. County)

“We” is the operative word here. I was not alone.

Love Forma. Mario finds a spot for us seemingly every time.

Go back some years with Josh who we first got to know at Sweet Rose In Brentwood Mart. Have been a fan of all of them- Huckleberry, Milo + Olive but favorite so far is Tallula’s.

This is way more than enough time. Like, hours.

The garlic bread/knot with whole cloves of garlic is unreal.

Lyft/Uber at LAX – make sure you have updated your app on your phone. The system used to be a complete disaster, now it’s…okay.

Instead of getting connected with a driver, you just get a code. When the green bus drops you at the disaster relief tent village, you get in a line and they’ll tell you which driver spot to go stand by–hopefully, a driver is already there–you show him your code, he types it in, you’re matched, and now you’re on your way. But the first couple times I did this, I didn’t get a code, because I hadn’t updated the app in the last year. So FYI.

I grew up in the Pasadena area but have since moved to Northern California. My favorite course in the area was Oak Quarry golf course In the riverside area I definitely recommend checking it out. Might be a little bit of a drive but it’s worth it. Sierra Lakes golf course is near it which is fun too.

Welcome Oak! Where do you reside in NorCal?

I am in Oakdale now, about a hour and change southeast of Sacramento. We are kind of the last stop on the way to Yosemite for most.

I’m in Modesto.

Go and put your name down in the NorCal chapter of the RACDG. You’re one of us now.

No way! Right next to me. I’m in Modesto all the time. Still bummed about McHenry driving range going under. That was my practice spot!

So:
Rustic Canyon is Bandon Dunes–classic, all around great
Cassia is Pacific Dunes–exciting, flashy, wild
Tallula’s is Bandon Trails – totally different but fabulous
Milo & Olive is Old Mac – underrated, overlooked
Huckleberry is Bandon Preserve – not a full meal

(Does that mean Birdie G’s is Sheep Ranch?)

I’ve never been to Bandon. I’ll trust you based on the reviews I’ve heard from others.

I’ve used the new system twice now, and for me it’s been a breeze both times. I only use Lyft, the Uber side does seem to be a bit more popular/shitshow. I remember when it first got instituted how much of a mess it was, glad they did it a full month before the holidays and sorted some stuff out.

We have our schedule posted at sosa.golfgenius.com if anyone is interested on their travels to LA/OC or just generally interested.

I’m generally interested. How would one join?

First step is register with the SCGA. Once approved you register as a new member.

Hi LA Refugees - Just temporarily moved to Seal Beach from New England and will be living here for the next 3 months. Would love the opportunity to play with some of you and immerse myself in the golf scene out here even if it’s only for a short while. I work east coast hours so most afternoons work for me and I am flexible on the weekends. I have a car and have no problem driving a few hours to play. Please shoot me a message if you ever need a 4th! Also, any course recommendations not already covered in this thread for the Seal Beach area are much appreciated.

I used to work in Seal Beach! Nice little Roger Dunn’s golf shop near you. You’re going to want to focus on Skylinks, Big Rec and ElDorado. Navy golf course sucks.
