Can’t wait–will try to get out to hit some golf balls in the sub-40 weather this week.

I don’t remember that on-course employee amenity from TSS3/EP2 – must be in the lost footage.
Only 3 times?
Wait on 2–opportunity to get to that snack bar.

I don’t think they played Rancho in TS…

Another vote for Cassia (despite the fact it causes a fight between me and the wife on the proper pronunciation). God, it’s so good.

And yeah, all of their restaurants: Tallula’s, Rustic–have you tried Milo & Olive?

Italian–soft spot in my heart for Locanda Portofino. I assume because you’re shouting out SM spots you must live around here. What’s your take on Forma?

I used to live right next to Forma, big fan.

Yeah, that’s me being a dummy and reading too quickly over Rancho and seeing Rustic.

Anybody interested in playing Rustic Canyon next Sunday? Ideally, around 8-9a.

Sunday 1/19 or 1/26?

1/26

26th is looking good for me at the moment. I’d be down.

Made an executive decision that daylight is a precious resource we’d run out of too soon by trying to make it to Rustic. Hopefully that’s not too disappointing. Rancho is a treat in itself but in a totally different ethos-sphere from Rustic.

No worries whatsoever. I’m down for getting in the max amount of golf. Will be 24 degrees in NY on Monday, so no complaints from me. Likely coming to LA at least once every quarter now, so opportunities in the future. Much appreciated. I’ll Lyft from LAX and meet you there. Cool if I dump my luggage in your car during round?

A buddy and I are coming to LA in early February to golf. We fly into LAX on Friday the 7th at about 9:20 on Delta. I’ve booked a round at Rustic Canyon at 1:30 PM. We have to drive to Oxnard to pick up my clubs, I’m Shipsticks-ing them to our hotel.

Two questions:

  1. Anyone want to join to fill out the foursome? Hoping to get a full 18 in, so we will be chasing the light.
  2. I think this should be plenty of time to get luggage, rental car, pick up clubs, and get to the course. Agree?

And get to the course? For sure. How many holes do you want to play, though?

I’m kidding. LAX sucks, getting a rental car sucks there, and it’s a long haul to Oxnard, but you should still be able to make it to Rustic by 1:30.

Are you not able to Shipsticks to clubs to Rustic?

Good idea about shipping to Rustic, I will check with them.

Just be warned that there is a lot of uncertainty with this. They recently put in a new policy for Cabs/Lyft/Uber that they all have to pick up from a separate lot. I haven’t done it yet but I’ve seen people say it’s a complete nightmare and I’ve seen others say it works great.

It really depends on what terminal you fly into. If you’re in Southwest (T1) it’s a piece of cake because the lot is right next to the terminal. If you’re in Terminal 3+ it sucks because it’s either a super long walk or you’re waiting on shuttles to make their way to you through the absurd traffic of the airport and then drop you off at the lot, while stopping and loading other passengers/luggage at every other terminal along the way.

We took the shuttle all the way around the loop from terminal 1 right before New Years. Piece of cake even then. They worked out a lot of kinks in the first couple weeks. Much better now.

Why didn’t you walk from T1? It’s like 4 minutes.

and @Kelch is the most pro-walking guy i know…
