Roll Call: Kentucky

You might consider Park Mammoth just north of Bowling Green, maybe an hour from where you’re staying. Best public course in the state. A lesser known distillery that has a good tour and cool history is Peerless, in downtown Louisville.

Anybody happen to know what the “Senior” age is at Park Mammoth? Almost ready to book in the 60 day window and want to make sure I don’t mess anything up?

Honestly I have no clue anymore with dynamic pricing. As much as I love the course, I hate this model

Just about ready to book my Park Mammoth round for March 19th.

Anybody interested in playing on a Tuesday afternoon? Would like to tee off some time between 12 and 2.

Would love to join in on a Louisville event! Hoping for any weekend but the 10th to avoid my club championship…

I have been trying to work out a way to make it to a High Cotton club event, so this is fantastic news! I will keep an eye on the thread for when the event is announced. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with logistics.

@nicke93 and @Darthbader911, we are trying to get enough guys for a a Kentucky (plus me) pod in the high cotton classic if you’re interested? It’s our spring match play and the winner of the pod would advance into a bracket with the rest of the pod winners from Tennessee.

I might be interested too. Done some OATW stuff previously, but it a a lot easier for me to do Lexington and Louisville coming from NKY than most of the Ohio Events

@leftysauce can share the sign up link for anyone who is interested! Would definitely love to get a full group of Kentucky guys for this one! Louisville is an easy trip for me and there’s a 4-6 good to great courses between me and Louisville to meet up for matches as well!

Here’s the link for our match play – the Jack Daniel’s edition!

Will make sure to keep everyone updated with the Louisville event. Fwiw, we believe Kentucky is firmly High Cotton Country and want to make every effort to get y’all involved. Through our jackpot format, it’s easy enough to set up a round or small outing and gain points… Add in an event or two (we host four events in Kentucky, including the Deep South Regional this year) and we could see HCC’s first Kentucky representative on the regional squad.

Might be a dumb question, but what are the handicap ranges you see at these events?

We’ve had as low as +4 and as high as 36, with the vast majority of competitors falling between 4-16

We’re careful to pick formats that don’t eliminate anyone solely based on their handicap, and offer players 60+ or with a handicap of 16+ the option to move up a tee.

Edit: Also, not a dumb question at all!

Did y’all know Kentucky was represented in the very first High Cotton Classic? Matches took place with competitors from, in, and around the Bluegrass state in the first two editions, back to our pre-roost days.

Personally, I’m continuing to look at property in KY and look forward to returning to the state where half my family has lived for generations.

Kentucky is High Cotton Country.

Greetings from Canada (mostly Winnipeg). Our crew (runs between 20-24 guys) has had a golf trip for 33 years. We call it the “Jim Beam” because in 1991 my roommate swiped his dad’s bottle of Jim Beam for the trip. We all hated it but forced each other to do shots. Now we love bourbon and have booked Louisville at the end of August for our yearly trip to golf and sample local distilleries.

Looking for guidance on where to play. The crew is a cross section of hackers who shoot from 80s, 90s and over 100. Looking for a course that is reasonable priced (but not low end) for the tournament (two days, 18 per day) and suggestions for other courses some of the better players may want to check out on off days . For tourney, fun and enjoyable is preferred over long and difficult. For the first 10 years we played Riding Mountain National Park in Clear Lake Manitoba, a classic Stanley Thompson design that is short but up and down, blind shots (two bells) and a blast to play.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you really really want to have a bell, Christmas Lake in Santa Clause has one. Haha, it’s also a nice course in good condition, but is about an hour from Louisville. Lucas Oil is also supposed to be pretty good and closer to Louisville. The only other course I know of is Chariot Run on the Indiana side. It’s in awesome shape, but if the wind is up, it can be absolutely brutal!

Nevel Meade is a great track if you’re looking for something very playable.

It’s funny how many times I’ve heard that someone shot their lowest score ever at Nevel Meade.

This is or Heritage Hill if your planning on going to the Bardstown Distilleries.
