Roll Call: Kentucky

I’ve always heard Audubon is a good club. Haven’t played the course in a while, but remember it’s always in great shape.

Played Audubon a couple times in various KGA events and it’s always very good. I think a couple years ago there was a mass exodus of staff and members to U of L club but I think it was more due to one staff move that snowballed as opposed to a problem at Audubon. I think one of the big state events is out there next year. Seems like a cool old school club in a unique location. Only downfall I can see is their range. You may not be a practice guy but if you are it may not suit you.

Rolling hills is solid glad they got those greens back. I love Paul Walker too. I’m a member at Franklin CC we should peg it up soon, just a few miles south of the county line on 31.

My pops actually was at member at Franklin CC back in the early 2000’s but i never played it then

Now that the paywall has gone up, who is still around here? Interested to see who is left, where you live and play, etc.
I’m in Oldham Co and play at Henry Co CC and likely joining Oldham Co CC soon as well.

Louisville here. Just joined Audubon CC last month, but was able to get a few rounds in with decent December weather.
Looking forward to the first full year at the club!

Same as Chuck. @nicke93 how has ACC been so far? Just saw the’yre hosting the State Am for 2021 and that has me itching to get my game back in order to qualify again.

It’s been great so far, but since we just joined in mid-December, I haven’t gotten a chance to connect with many members yet. Looking forward to getting the new season underway. Need to take advantage of the simulators this winter, just haven’t found the time to get over there yet.

I played 4 rounds in December and super pleased with the conditioning of the greens, so I’m excited to see it come this Spring/Summer. Its such a fun, old-school layout.

Happy to host any time! I believe its half price guest fees after 11:00 on Saturdays during the off season and after 1:00 in season.

I would be in for that! The door at Woodhaven is always open as well. Greens are rough right now from a late punch though.

I’ve actually never played Woodhaven. Played Audubon a few times in KGA events. Need to find my way to Woodhaven, Midland, Lake Forest, Big Spring, Hurstbourne and LCC in the next few years.

Door is always open. Course has been in amazing shape and played about as hard as it gets in July/August this year.

I’m still here. I’m not a nest member but check in occasionally on Indiana and Kentucky threads. Mostly play public course around central ky area

Bowling Green here just playing the munis around town and occasionally rolling hills or Kenny Perry

A friend of mine and I are driving from Columbus OH down to Sweetens in August and we want to stop in Kentucky and play a couple rounds. Suggestions?

Depends on if you’re planning on driving through Louisville or Lexington (looks like its only a 10 minute time difference between the two routes). Assuming you are looking for courses close to the interstate.

If going through Louisville:
-Nevel Meade - a super fun links style course just east of Louisville
-Heritage Hill - in Shepherdsville, just south of Louisville

If going through Lexington:
-Kearney Hills - the best municipal course in Lexington. Used to host some Champions Tour events back in the 90’s
-Gibson Bay - a selfish suggestion being the course I grew up playing in Richmond, just south of Lexington on I75. In my opinion, one of the best value, underrated courses in the state

I’ll second both Lexington options. Kearny is the must IMO. Love that place even though it kicks my ass. Heard it was in rough shape in one point last year, but I know it was fine in June so I may take that with a grain of salt. Could have been covid shutdown, considering the city maintains.

Gibson Bay won’t blow you away, but it’s a fun track with greens that are always quick and wind that is always blowing.

I’ll add on the UK courses, particularly Big Blue. Fairly close to the interstate if memory serves.

If you’re going through Louisville you’ll be going through Franklin as well it looks like so you may as well stop and play Kenny Perry or Rolling Hills in Russellville is an extra 30 minutes or so. Neither will blow you away but Rolling Hills is a fun track.

Yeah I was there this past August, Kearney Hills had some issue with their irrigation system but it took a while for them to pinpoint the problem and as a result by late summer they had lost large swaths of several fairways. Can’t imagine it will still be an issue by spring, let alone late summer.
Haven’t played it in forever but I always enjoyed Houston Oaks in Paris as well. Lovely drive through horse country only a few miles north of Lexington and also handy to the interstate

A friend of mine is the GM at a course just outside Louisville on the I71 corridor going toward Cincinnati. He will be retiring at the end of the year and they are looking for an Assistant General Manager to come in and learn the ropes from him for the year and hopefully take over in 2022. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I can point you toward the best way to apply.
