Hey Louisville Folks - Will be out there next month for my bachelor party (up in Prospect area) and wondering what the best pizza joint is. We’ll probably just do pickup/delivery and take it back to the Airbnb but ideally would do something local instead of the standard chains if at all possible.
Prospect area isn’t really the hot spot for local pizza places. My picks would be:
Diorio’s - St. Matthews
Bearnos - Any location
Impellizeris - Any location
All those are good. I’d also throw in The Post and one that would be maybe the closest to Prospect and sits under the radar is Old Style NY Pizza. There might be an Impellizeris kinda close too but I can’t remember.
What do you have planned for the bachelor party?
I’m a Hometown guy too. All of those options are really solid.
Depends on how soon you want to stop. Northern Kentucky - suggest Lassing Pointe - great public track. In Lexington, Kearney Hills is a unique spot and University Club - Big Blue is another hidden treasure where UK’s team practices.
If you want an experience with your pizza, go to Spinelli’s downtown.
From what I remember, they are open until 5 am. Place has some great horror movie/EDM rave vibes…
There’s an Impellizeris on 42 not far from Prospect. Also a Hometown Pizza in La Grange and Crestwood. Both good spots.
The Post is fantastic. I haven’t been there in awhile but it’s one of the few places that I can order a Rolling Rock
You can order a 36 inch pizza at Diorios. Just keep that in mind.
Hot take: I love Louisville, but it is not a great pizza city. Having spent my college years in Lexington, I would give it the edge in the pizza category. I crave Puccini’s every Friday night.
I agree that The Post is the best option. RIP North End Slice on Bardstown Road.
North End was solid
If the Post is busy…go elsewhere. Crazy long wait.
What was the place near campus…started with a Z?
All this Louisville pizza talk and nobody mentions the top hometown pie - Papa John’s. Shameful.
HA
It’s just so awful…If I go chain, I go Dominos
Or
Jet’s
Lassing is a very good course. Heard it might not open until April.
Anyone else in NKY?
It should be open in Mid-march, like normal
Tentative Itinerary so far:
Land Thursday night
Friday
- Nevel Meade in morning
- Dinner in or near DT Louisville - Location TBD and open to suggestions
Saturday
- Bourbon distillery tours/tastings - Three Boys, Bulleit, Woodford
- Pizza for dinner
Sunday
- 2nd round of golf somewhere midday - relatively close to airport for people with flights right after
Try Steak & Bourbon in Westport Village for dinner. Fantastic.
Do not go downtown. Ghost-town nowadays. Steak & Bourbon is a good one, I’d also throw in Mesh.
Steak & Bourbon looks awesome. Thank you
Like for real, don’t go.
