Ah bummer, I just bought mine last night! Hopefully someone will snatch these up. Sorry you won’t be able to make it!
If these don’t sell, we’ll have to make it work - just not thrilled about driving in not knowing how bad the roads are. Sounds like it could be anywhere from 2-8 inches.
Not sure where you’re driving from, but the roads in KC proper will be fine by Saturday night since pretty much all the snow will come down tomorrow. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well the city’s done this year, and this storm won’t be the worst we’ve had this winter.
Coming from STL - supposed to come in Friday night. If these don’t sell we’ll modify our hotel reservation and drive up Saturday and hope everything is clear.
You should be good. 70 is almost always the first cleared from blue springs into downtown on the Missouri side.
Having trouble finding any open tee times today so if anyone needs a fourth let me know!
Had to post this in here, the Dub’s Dread Roost event for the @GreatPlainsGC is coming up and registration is now open to ALL participants. If you’d like to play — starts at 10am, Saturday April 16th — please reach out to @tnord or myself via DM and we can try and get you access to the spreadsheet if you don’t have it already.
Open to ALL participants includes non-NLU peeps, but we are encouraging all members of GPGC to attend…
This will be reposted in the Nebraska and Iowa Roll Call threads to encourage their participation as well… cheers and craic on!
I heard a rumor today that OP/neighborhood of deer creek voted down the development of the golf course.
Anybody looking for a fourth for tomorrow midday? Am available after 10am!
All - I do not want to spook anyone, but there is a sandy course in the De Soto area that a buddy of mine and I went out and played last week. Blew me away.
Burning Tree (GreatLife). I want to buy it and turn it into something special. It is legit sand with dune ridges. Massive greens. Right on the Kansas River in the biggest section of river I have ever seen. Bones are bucking!
Goat track at the moment. GreatLife property now, right? I had the same thoughts Ben. Same thoughts.
This has me at the edge of my seat. Sandy soil, dunes, river views…the only word I hear is “potential.”
@sundaybag I thought the same about that track. I feel like it could have some sweetens/gearhart/wp9 vibes. Pebble on the Kaw. I played it about a month ago and it’s sweet when everything is dormant before GL lets it go. I think they’ve recently took out a lot of trees and brush to open it up. You’ve crowdsourced one course…maybe another?
They have and it is sick! Mega wide, massive greens (need some internal contouring and a cut) and some serious views/sense of place. Could be the ultimate Kansas course. @bpmcelhiney - potential for days. I want it!
I keep seeing this course pop up on GolfNow. Maybe I’ll sneak out there Tuesday.
All about expectations. If you are out there to be critical, it won’t be the best experience. But if you are out there dreaming about what could be, it is very very very worth it. Had a smile from ear to ear on my face.
Even if you leave disappointed it’s short and flat so the walk is easy and you’re out $14. There are worse ways to kill a couple of hours.
100%. @Rocco and I played out there in November 2020, and we were both buzzing about what could be. The owner confirmed that it’s sandy loam. It’s incredibly ripe to be turned into something special.
Are we about to buy a course? You know it will be for sale very very soon!
