Having only played it a couple of times, I’m a fan of Iron Horse! Again, sucks that it isn’t a walking-friendly course, but its very cool and a course I’d definitely play.
I agree with the others. It’s my go-to course but by no means is it walkable. They’ve raised their rates a lot the past couple years so I don’t go as often but I think you’ll enjoy yourself.
Side note: I used to be a member there, dropped out to help pay for my wedding, and couldn’t get back in. Super good deal but now you either have to be an existing member or Leawood resident to get first dibs. Last year they were totally sold out and now it will be even harder as non-member, non-residents to secure a spot, if not impossible.
As a pipe dream I wish HOA, (especially the short game area) could become half as nice as this practice place. Good public short game spots are hard to find. Ironhorse has it, but its hard to justify driving that far when HOA is 10 min away even if it is 70% of the product.
As an aside, I played the par 3 course yesterday at HOA and was as about as good a shape as you could expect this time of year, greens were faster than anticipated even with all the unrepaired ball marks.

As an aside, anyone know why they have closed off the 3 hole loop at HOA for so long? Sucks because my wife loved it while she was learning to play and has wanted to go back for a couple years.
If you really want to enjoy the par 3 at HOA, skip #6.

Greens were in poor shape last time I played there (probably two years ago), so glad to hear you enjoyed it.

It’s been going on for over 15 years. I was an Ast in KC back then. The guy they made fun of has gone off on them on twitter many times. However, no one knows because they don’t know the guys who started it. But the guys kind of was a d-bag back in the day, and kind of deserved a little bit of it. . What club did the Ast Pro work for? I know they have a list ideas to go from, 3 Jack is just one of them. Camel Toe Tech knowledge and other ones are out there also. They are smart guys and have the backing and support to do what ever they want.
