Yeah what a mouthful. Really liked “Stateline Tour” since it spoke to the region a bit but whatever I guess…
Plan on playing most of them. Gonna have to make a hard decision between playing the Kansas Mid-Am and Shadow Glen for the first time. Maybe see if I can play both but don’t think that’ll work
SLAT was so much better but whatever keeps the tournaments cheap and at awesome courses I’ll take it.
Nice, I’ll see you out there then! I don’t know that I’ll play most of them, but definitely the private courses I haven’t played yet. That way I know I won’t qualify for Shadow and can play the Mid-Am. I won’t turn down an opportunity to play Shadow again though…that place is amazing. It’s weird they scheduled the SLAT Championship and Mid-Am the same days.
Swope is always a better choice. I usually play after work but the crowd and pace of play from 3-5 can be tough or you can be the only one out there. In the summer you can start at 530-6 and get 9 in very easily. Weekends are weekend muni golf. 4-5 hour
rounds. Sunday twilight is always a great time. Conditioning, service, company, and price are always better at swope compared to hillcrest.
I think I like it more than some here, but it’s one of my favorite public courses in the metro. I’d consider their membership if I lived further south. Quite a few quality holes, but I don’t recommend walking. It’s usually in pretty good shape, but has had drainage issues in the past, so maybe avoid using your gift card after big storms. It’s also got a very good practice facility if that matters at all.
Agree with Eric. As far as public courses in the metro go, it’s pretty good. Hate that it’s not walkable, and a couple goofy holes, but otherwise pretty good. Given where I live, if I didn’t play at Blue Hills I’d keep an annual pass here.
