Roll Call: KC Area

Yeah what a mouthful. Really liked “Stateline Tour” since it spoke to the region a bit but whatever I guess…

Plan on playing most of them. Gonna have to make a hard decision between playing the Kansas Mid-Am and Shadow Glen for the first time. Maybe see if I can play both but don’t think that’ll work

SLAT was so much better but whatever keeps the tournaments cheap and at awesome courses I’ll take it.

Nice, I’ll see you out there then! I don’t know that I’ll play most of them, but definitely the private courses I haven’t played yet. That way I know I won’t qualify for Shadow and can play the Mid-Am. I won’t turn down an opportunity to play Shadow again though…that place is amazing. It’s weird they scheduled the SLAT Championship and Mid-Am the same days.

Anyone know the backstory on CPG?

I assume there is some connection to KC in general but have never heard the full story.

I would love to know the backstory. Dude has been running this gag for so long.

interesting stuff. kinda figured thats what it was all about.

Would agree that what humor it had has def gone downhill, but all things do with time i suppose.

Whoever is running that, certainly has done way better than they ever imaged i would guess.

I’m not going to lie, the CPG booth at the golf show was not bad. The quality of their merch is nice. (Still didn’t buy any)

Played Swope today for the first time (in 2.5 hours btw) and how have I never been here before?! I absolutely loved it.

Finished off Deer Creek. 3hrs walking.

Played Hillcrest this afternoon. Bit of a slog with slow players and conditions seemed worse than last time I was there.

I was thiiiiis close to going there. Sounds like maybe Swope was a better choice unfortunately

Yeah, you made the right choice. It’s funny because I almost changed plans and went to Swope instead. Should have.

Used to like a lot of his stuff. Once he got into the Clay Travis stuff I gave it up.

Still rock the Masters and Tecate cup shirts though. When I ordered them they shipped from South KC…

Swope is always a better choice. I usually play after work but the crowd and pace of play from 3-5 can be tough or you can be the only one out there. In the summer you can start at 530-6 and get 9 in very easily. Weekends are weekend muni golf. 4-5 hour
rounds. Sunday twilight is always a great time. Conditioning, service, company, and price are always better at swope compared to hillcrest.

Pretty sweet club glove travel bag for sale over on CL in Parkville. Can vouch for their quality and it’s only $45!

Not mine, but if I needed an upgrade I’d jump on this.

yea that is super cheap. Happy to make the deal happen if someone wants it, I live right there.

Hey I got a gift card to Iron Horse. Any reviews or opinions. Walkable? Course conditions?

I think I like it more than some here, but it’s one of my favorite public courses in the metro. I’d consider their membership if I lived further south. Quite a few quality holes, but I don’t recommend walking. It’s usually in pretty good shape, but has had drainage issues in the past, so maybe avoid using your gift card after big storms. It’s also got a very good practice facility if that matters at all.

Agree with Eric. As far as public courses in the metro go, it’s pretty good. Hate that it’s not walkable, and a couple goofy holes, but otherwise pretty good. Given where I live, if I didn’t play at Blue Hills I’d keep an annual pass here.

Worth playing.
