“TRoost” (and its offshoots) has a lot of support right now, but does anyone have any other team name suggestions? Something about the league name being in the team name is a little ehhh to me. I’m of course going to be happy with whatever the group decides on, though – very much a ‘just happy to be here’ situation.

To spark a little conversation, here’s something I just made on my phone:

you want the ultimate opportunity to show up KC? Join the KC Roost, win your local STL pod, come kick everybody’s butt at the regional, and play your way onto the national stage as having defeated the rest of KC.

Just a thought and an alternative to being placed with Chicago. No disrespect to anyone.

I like TRoost but I also lived on Troostwood Rd at one point so I may be biased…

Definitely something to hash out should we be the Roost hub for the region. I agree that the name feels a little “lazy,” particularly the logo at the moment. But hey, we’re 24hrs into this thing. I was thinking of adopting the rooster as a nod to our national Roost alignment, and I like him being perched on a golf club, but what if the rooster was playing a saxophone? And what if instead of it emanating musical notes it splayed water like a fountain out of the bell? That’s kinda cool isn’t it?

It’s as if you think we all have to be placed. It’s either STL or no roost for me personally.

These mega geographic areas seem to be against the very nature of the roost. In the document it literally states STL vs KC as reasons not to have a Missouri Roost

Just offering up options. No ill will intended.

Water out of a saxophone would be very cool. Alt logo being something BBQ. So many options, hope we secure a ROOST spot.

The possibilities are endless. My personal preference would be something that doesn’t include Troost (historically a dividing line in KC) or roosters (my understanding being that a roost is a gathering and has nothing to do with roosters unless roosters are roosting, yadda yadda…). Love the brainstorming @NightTrainLane and @tnord. BBQ, jazz, fountains, etc… I’m all about that.

My affection for the TRoost bit was all about embracing that culturally divided line and not ignoring it, with a possible philanthropic destination east of that line in Harris Park.

Yer thoughts about that were mine initially as well, but I’ve come round 180° since especially if we decide to make Harris Park as our charitable receiver.

Very good point!

I will play golf with you all organized or not. It was like pulling teeth when I was down in Austin to get folks out.

I play at the Deuce if anybody wants to come north of the wall.

Update; we’ve hit 30 on the roster!

Honestly the Troost reference feels a little “gentrificationish” to me, but if we pair it with something that actually helps that part of the city then I can work with it. I do think we might be able to get a bit more creative though and still help out Harris Park and just golf in the inner city in general. KC has so much history that I’m sure we can find something we all agree on. Love the reference to the Jazz scene, BBQ, and particularly think we can come up with some logo involving fountains that would look awesome on everything.

Someone mock up a hog playing a trombone with water coming out of the bell? With the skyline in the background?

Edit: maybe throw in a shuttlecock for good measure?

what is with the shuttlecock? I see these hats in the BH shop and figured it was another stupid G4 thing, but maybe it has a local tie?

ah yes. I didn’t grow up here, only been there one time, and completely spaced out on it.
