Roll Call: Iowa

Well if you mentioned Des Moines…

How does Wednesday around noon look?
I had someone cancel then, and Waveland is on my party list

Either there or TCI pending on recommendation

Hot take on TCI: fun place to lose 100 golf balls, less than fun place to play golf. Ten round split I’d lean toward Waveland getting the majority.

Play better

(But really fall can be tough because there are a ton of trees lining each hole)

Also not sold on the new routing besides turning the old hole 6 into a par five, that hole tears me up every time.

Thats possible. Next Wednesday right?

Amount of holes would depend on schedule that day. Worst case I could do 9.

I couldn’t agree more. The flipped 9’s makes me enjoy it even less, as well as all the new housing development they added on the now back 9. I used to love how open it was near the old 7 tee

Noon/1pm?

I’m in Ames from 10-11am, and then could head south ASAP.
I put TGI on my radar, but would be down for Waveland as well (whatever has more trees for those sweet sweet Instagram photos lol)

Be careful with Brown Deer. I was there a couple of weeks ago and their greens are like putting on a plinko board. Not because of aeration. The last 2 years they have had almost double the amount of play as normal because of outings and COVID.

That should work. And good question on the photo aspect, more trees and elevated views at TCI, but trees might be done by then. On their last leg now. If youre just going by course Id pick Waveland 7 out of 10 times. TCI might technically be better but I dont enjoy it as much.

I dont care either way though, just message me that AM or night before and well figure it out.

Any of the QC contingent playing in the Fyre Lake Closing Day money scramble tomorrow?

Update: Fyre Lake is so sick.

Any idea if the course will still be open next weekend? Trying to squeeze the ever living hell out of the end of the season.

Edit: Just realized you had posted it was closing day scramble. Damn.

I spoke with the pro on Saturday and they are starting renovations today.

Sounds like there are some really good things ahead for a layout that truly deserves better and more consistent maintenance.

Already can’t wait to go back next year.

That’s always been the problem with the course, it’s always been short on money since they opened. A truly fun course with tons of potential.

Exciting times. Will def get down to play it upon the reopening in the spring.

QC contingent - anyone wanna get a round going this coming weekend somewhere? Tired of playing by myself up in IC area. I’m literally open to anywhere.

Don’t threaten me with a good time, I’m open Saturday pretty much at anytime

Looks like 8, Really cool little par 3.
Was planning on playing in that and had a guy drop out so we ended up playing Palmer instead of the scramble.

I didn’t make it to Fyre this year for the first time in a while. I love the challenge of having to hit less that driver at times. It can be such a frustrating course from hole to hole. I have been completely ejected by the back 9 a few times.

Wish I would have seen this. I don’t know why but have always loved Muni

My first time there, really enjoyed it other than the big right miss that continues to follow me around and not managing a single 1 putt.

I think myself and @grandpa_jones are going to play this weekend, more than welcome to join up. Not sure where yet.

@RunItOut looks like they’re re-opening for a few days

Oh snap. Well I guess that makes the decision easier.

@grandpa_jones you good for Saturday out there? Anyone else?
