Thank you all for the suggestions.

We were looking at going to the Colts game vs Vegas on Sunday but the $75 for nosebleeds doesn’t seem like a popular choice.

Just trying to find ways to share the gospel of Ale Emporium

You ever go to Keystone Sports Review?

Don’t believe so. Whattya recommend there?

I haven’t been to their new location. But their old location was still in the peak 90’s. But I like their wings better than Ale.

I think KSR quality has dipped at the new location, but maybe I just got a bad batch the one time I did takeout last year.

My hot take is the best wings in Indy are the Toga Blood wings at Strange Bird in Irvington.

A pleasant run (6 hour round) and strange bird saturday is a helluva combo.

I was so fucking pissed when I drove by the other day and the original KSR is a Jiffy Lube now. I’ve been gone too long. I used to live on 54th St.

Got a long weekend trip next month in SW/SC Michigan. Looking for new places to play. Does anyone have insight on Lake James GC vs. Glendarin Hills GC in Angola, IN? Which do you prefer? What to expect at the course? How do the courses play?

Thanks

@papateeps not sure if you can help this guy out or not. Or any other Fort wayne person.

Let’s do this

Both solid options and sort of different expectations to both.

Lake James: Cheaper of the two options. LOTS of elevation change and blind shots. Walkable but you are gonna be huffing on a few hole climbs. Sneaky good course that is kinda hidden in the lake area, and the clientele reflects that, much more laid back overall. Greens are usually in good condition but some of the fairways might be a bit rough especially in the wooded areas.

Glendarin: More expensive but the conditioning of the course overall is easily way better. Definitely more of a “country club” vibe. No walking allowed I believe, at least there isn’t a separate rate. Believe you get range balls as part of your greens fee. Greens are big and tons of subtle slopes but usually firm and quick, so you can get caught in the cookie jar quite a bit. Hole designs and routing is unique for the area, decent amount of dogleg holes and visual deception.

If I’m choosing one based on one time to play, Glendarin wins. Lake James, I feel, is a more fun course and experience to play but you won’t hear people exclaim (outside of myself) about how awesome it was.

Another great choice in the area is Trine University. Campus is fun to check out as you play, another with a good amount of elevation changes and blind shots but very interesting design.

Additional food recs: The Lake Shack in Fremont (21+), The Venue in Angola (incredible pizza and burgers plus pool tables) (21+), Jed’s BBQ & Brew in Angola (family friendly)

Tri State University

Home of quite possibly the largest D3 Lacrosse squad in the Midwest.

Their football field used to be an immaculate grass field, now it’s turf. It’s the way life goes I guess, but man was it great.

I’ve reffed their lacrosse team before and the team they played against said “Jesus Christ how many of them are there”. I would love to ref up there some time just to play their golf course once I’m done.

Kid is looking to go there and possibly play. You could field 3 teams with their roster.

Been too afraid to ask - but how do I get the roost affiliation and logo here? I’m signed up and in the discord already.

To add to the Trine/Angola conversation: was there for Boy’s State in high school and there was a huge bedbug outbreak. Not fun stuff. Heard Zollner is great though.

Loved Glendarin. A few gimmicky holes but I played around this time of the year in 2019 and it was fantastic.
