May or may not have blacked out on the back 9! First time I’ve ever played 3 straight birdies! Lol

I’m considering playing the Warren Golf Course the morning of Friday 9/6 while in town for a visit to my alma mater. Are there any locals who would like to join and show me around? If not, is it worth bringing the clubs? It looks like a tough track but if the character is there I’ll play it. @Crossroads_CoOp

I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews of Warren, so I would absolutely bring your sticks! I know a lot of Coop folks are Indy/ft. Wayne based, so may want to double check with the Chicago folks as well!

I’ve never played it, but I could probably be coerced into driving up.

Definitely worth the drive if you are able. And if you’re free the whole day, play another course in South Bend.

How early could you make it? It would be sweet to play with wood woods if you are so inclined.

You set it, and I’ll be there… being local-ish, probably easier to fit my schedule into yours.

Wood is always preferred. :sunglasses:

Definitely worth it, more so at twilight, and just don’t tip it out :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Are you going to be around the whole weekend? Could make a stroll up there at some point.

it’s so damn good. lots of thrilling shots, demanding off of the tee. Thumbs up.

Technically yes but Friday morning is the window for golf. Next time perhaps!

I want to hit that course on my next trip back to indiana!

Hey All,

I think we will do 2-man bestball (aka team best score, aaka fourball). But since Pfau is very tough off the tee and hitting the second shot is where Pfau really flourishes, I’m thinking of allowing each participant one tee shot mulligan per nine. Otherwise known as a “Pfaul Ball”

I designed a ball marker for our event:

From indy but never played the Brickyard course. Going to be there soon and thought about playing it and then just saw they are charging $210?!

Match Play fans, we’re forming up pods and invite you to join in on the lax-but-competitive thrill.

Ever since Penske took over he has made it a point to have less overall play. They’ve upped the member fees, made the place cart path only temporarily to drive down membership, and tripled the daily rate. Now-former members have told me the goal is to have it be a destination course for execs and those willing to shell out big bucks for four albeit average holes inside the track.

I like but don’t love the course and certainly don’t like it enough to shell out two bills.

I agree with @abehlmer (btw Who Dey!) on those trends of thinning out play and prices going up with Penske + COVID inflation impacts. Believe tee times used to be every 10 mins, now they’re every 15 mins.

When I moved to Indy 10+ years ago, it was $100 rack rate, $60 twilight after 4. No twilight offering today, so $210 at all times.

I personally really like the course and think it has a lot of fun holes. Do agree that a few of the 4 holes inside the track are fairly forgettable. But love the stretch after the track.

Certainly respect everyone’s opinion and budget consideration. But if it’s a one time thing, or once a year (which is kind of my goal), I think it’s worth it. You won’t find any course more uniquely Indy. You may like another course more (playing well helps!) but it’s a fun cool experience. It is also nicely situated closely to downtown, so it’s set up for the destination stop.

Also, played it this month and it was not cart path only, fortunately.

Man I’d really love to know how you guys rate holes as forgettable.

7 - Awesome par three with the slopes and the view of the Pagoda
8 - Tough par 4 with water all down the left. The typical Dye hole.
9 - Maybe the most forgettable, but even then you’ve got those weird bunkers all the way down it which are fun.
10 - A fun short 4 with a fairway that slopes and a green that is tough and a bunker all down the left.

Maybe forgettable is not the right word, as you are inside an enormous race track.

When I said few, I meant 9 & 10. 7 and 8 are great / tough. And I’m comparing it against the rest of the course as more memorable.

I think most of the holes are more fun/memorable than #9. I can be convinced on #10. It’s much more interesting than #9. So I’ll soften my “few” stance to not caring much for #9.
