I would also toss out that Purdue courses are a great option not terribly far off 65. If he’s willing to take a bit of a detour, I would recommend Harrison Hills in Attica. It’s an absolute Hidden gem that is freaking awesome!
Is it hard to get on the Purdue courses? My buddy’s kid goes there and we’ve talked about meeting there to play, but haven’t put anything on the calendar yet
nah, it has online booking. heard rumors they will make it tougher to play Kampen or take it private. But honestly–Purdue alum–who cares? It’s so hard. Play Ackermann twice, have a great day in almost always perfect conditties.
There’s also packages available.
Yeah, Kampen has been tougher due to them building the clubhouse there currently. I loved Ackerman though. Super playable and fun.
Awesome. Gonna find a weekend to get out there. Or try to talk my buddy’s into going out for dark lord day a day earlier and trying to play on the way there
Anyone played Hickory Stick lately? Pictures online look nice, and looks like a fun track
Anyone stayed at the “Officers Homes” next to the Fort?
Been a couple years, but yes, well above average. Fun spot.
Anyone a member at Woodstock and can hook me up with parking tomorrow??
And celebrating 100 years this season.
Great opportunity a short ways away
I didn’t see much in past posts here, so looking for recommendations from the good people of Central Indy. I like the golf coach that I have been going to for the past few years but he is starting to travel a ton and teaching in other states, so it’s hard to schedule lessons recently. Does anyone have recommendations or experience with a great golf coach somewhere in Indy? I live in west central Indiana so I could also drive up to West Lafayette or Bloomington as well if needed. Appreciate the suggestions.
looking for one - my search for someone to join a Forest Dunes Trip:

Hey everyone! Moved here from NH about 3 years ago and got recommended to join/post here by two members.
GHIN is saying I’m a 11.6 HCP for what that’s worth. I’ve been really enjoying walking (pushing) 18 holes more and more this year. I’m from the Fort Wayne area but am up for a drive to an early morning tee time at a nice track.
Hoping to join the discord and make it out to an event before the end of the season!
Heck yeah, welcome! Love seeing more Fort Wayner’s… I live in Huntertown, play most of my golf at Noble Hawk.
I’m gonna try to get an event set up, early to mid October at Rock Hollow in Peru. Easy drive for us but she’d be worth the trip at twice the distance!
Look forward to meeting you, let me know anytime you’d like to go for a walk, happy to join.
Welcome! Glad to have you aboard for our next season (starts July 1). Saw you landed in Discord and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask away
Thinking about doing a little 3 day getaway with my girlfriend in September to French Lick. We live in the Chicago suburbs and have been going out for about 3 months now.
Have not been to French Lick before, and the primary motivation for choosing this location is the Wilstem Safari Park nearby. She’s not a golfer, but is curious about it, having gone to TopGolf with me once and showing some interest. Trying to decide if I can incorporate a round at either Dye or Ross course as part of the trip. I think she would be open to riding in the cart with me, maybe trying a few shots, etc.
For starters, am I foolish for thinking of including a round is a good idea?
If no, what are the thoughts on Dye vs Ross? What would I expect to pay for either course Mon-Wed, since the website is light on pricing details? I saw caddies are required at Dye, is that still the case in September, and is that based on when you play? Does Ross require caddies?
So, I do not think you are foolish for incorporating a round. Fair warning, be prepared for some sticker shock on pricing though. They Ross course is $150 for 18 and $75ish for a replay I believe. They Dye course is $450 for all day play (only rate) with a mandatory fore caddy of $50/round I believe.
Another option for a round would be Sultan’s Run in Jasper which is $80 I believe for those time frames. Christmas Lake is a little further away, but is cheaper than that as well. I played there last summer and it was in pretty solid shape.
I’m not sure if it involves staying at the resort, but during my trip last year replays were included in the initial greens fee for both courses.
