Roll Call: Houston

The light rail is fine to use getting to the game. Ive used it a few times.

As for hotel, I would consider using the Mariott at the airport and returning the car the night before.

Early forecast for weather for Tuesday is low 50s and quite windy… That will feel make it feel much colder than the thermometer says, Houston cold always feels colder due to the humidity.

Don’t play Wildcat… that’s my advice.
Highland Pines
Cypresswood
Golf Club of Houston
would be solid options to play

As mentioned above the Light Rail is great getting to the game from DT (it will probably even be free).

Also, if your flight from IAH is at 525am you will be leaving for the airport around ~4am and traffic shouldn’t be bad at that time from almost anywhere.

If you stay in DT for the game it won’t be a problem, going North up 59 isn’t bad even during rush hours (I wouldn’t take 45 to/from IAH).

My only add would be Gus Wortham on the Eastside, they play the Houston AM there. Short track but sneaky and was the original Houston CC.

Ya Gus would be good fun. Could probably get on Memorial as a standby single pretty easy too.

I checked Memorial but they’re closed that Tuesday.

Flying into Houston next weekend to watch the Browns take on the Texans. Any golf recommendations around Houston? Thanks!

Should be able to find a 3:30 tee time at Gus Wortham. Course will be dead, as everyone will be at NRG watching the Texans beat the Browns.

long-time listener first-time poster.

looking forward to getting into some long and degenerate conversations here.

May we interest you in the Texas Cup?

Thanks for the invite but getting away for a weekend is tough for me right now.

Thanks for all the suggestions Houston folks, Not!

You’re welcome…… Not

Or you could have scrolled up from your original post and seen all the previous suggestions. Nothing has changed. But that’s probably hard.

I responded right after your post.

Hint: Gus Wortham

I saw that thank you!

Have a tee time for Cypresswood (Traditions) on Saturday morning, any ideas how it will be holding up after all this rain? Was planning on walking so I’m sure it will be a long day as I’d imagine it’s cart path only.

Let us know if the trailer flooded. It’s usually a 5+ hour round out there, so I wouldn’t expect it to speed up with the rain.

Every time I go out there I wonder if/when they’ll build a new clubhouse. The trailer vibe doesn’t fit the courses

I played there a 2-3 years ago and the round took 5 plus hours on both courses. I did enjoy when we played Cypress that we got yelled at by the starter on the first hole for not hitting our 2nd shot quick enough… We waited for the green to clear as it was 200 or less into the green. We are then putting and the group ahead was on the 2nd tee… needless to say we waited on them a lot that day. This was after he held up the group in front for some reasons five plus minutes.

My buddy is a member and they allegedly keep saying they are working on plans to refurbish the clubhouse by the Traditions course but it’s been years of all talk and no progress.

Just curious but why did they move to the trailer from the original club house?

I’ve only known the trailer in the years I have played it.

There were two clubhouses. You can see the foundation of the Cypress course by the trailer. The traditions clubhouse is still there but you would think it would of been gutted in 2017 if they were actually planning to use the bones of it again.
