I’m a Member as well. let me know if I can help!
FWIW i played Monday and it looks like the green is being enlarged a decent amount while also being moved further back and a good amount to the left. Fairly drastic change from the smaller, water bounded green previous.
if you’re in Katy Pine Forest is pretty great. We used to be there for several years before moving clubs.
What’s MGA
I love Pine Forest and would love to join up there one day. Being in Cypress its a little bit of a drive though. But better than Sterling.
Men’s Golf Association
Houston gang, playing Atascosita Golf Club Saturday if anyone wants to join.
3 spots at CCC Saturday at 2.
Anyone have intel on Longwood in Cypress? Supposed to re-open in December and take on more of a semi-private vibe. Course was great 10 years ago and a complete dog track since. Hopeful it turns out good.
Hi Houstonians - looking to see if any recommendations on where to play in the north Houston area. Am visiting a friend in a few weeks that lives in north Houston near Lake Houston.
It’s not a golf trip but golf will be played. As such…if we’re playing golf, it may as well be decent golf. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
Highland Pines could be a good option, its kinda new and has all zoysia grass which is rare for around here. Its about 30mins depending where you are around Lake Houston.
Tour 18 if you’re into that kind of thing.
Golf Club of Houston and Cypresswood are usually in good shape also.
Yea, I’d go with Highland Pines, Golf Club of Houston, or Cypresswood as well. If you are club corp you can get on Kingwood CC
Will also throw a vote in for Highland Pines. Awesome course in great shape. Was supposed to play there tomorrow but looks like a rain out ![]()
Ya I have a 11:09 tee time there tomorrow too. But it’s going to be a soaker.
I’m pretty bummed about it.
I hope you are either having a blast or tell me that the course was closed today, haha
I didn’t even bother trying. It’s a near an hour drive for me (I’m on the west side of Houston) and I couldn’t get motivated to drive that far to get rained on for 4hrs.
Hey all thanks for the recommendations.
Ended up playing Cypresswood (Traditions) and Tour 18. Both were a ton of fun and expected to hate Tour 18 but really enjoyed it actually.
Also played the river east 9 hole short hole course and had a great time. $40 for a pitch and putt was steep but the vibes were great.
We’re doing signups for the Texas Cup, Ryder Cup match between Houston, Austin, and DFW. Great way to meet your fellow Houston area golfers!
1 spot left!
Houstonians! Making at last minute trip for the game this weekend. Have a couple of logistical questions.
- Flying out of IAH at 525am Wednesday morning. Knowing nothing about the traffic in Houston, where should I look for hotels to make sure I can get to the airport early enough to return my rental car and make my flight that early in the morning?
- I know there’s a light rail system that goes to NRG. Am I foolish to try and use it to get to/from the game, or should I just try to park nearby?
- I might bring my clubs to try and play on Tuesday sometime. Anyone interested or have suggestions?
