It’s open, let’s go launch ‘em!
Anybody have an opening for one more on Saturday morning? Going to be in town for Father’s Day and was given the go ahead to play a round.
I’m unavailable but thanks for asking. I’ll do my anti-rain dance to keep any tropical depression rain away.
Anyone seen the East River 9 hole course mock ups or have any insider knowledge on it? Looks like a 9 hole par three course in Eado with a huge putting green and Driving range. I know someone on here mentioned they had a group trying to build a par 3 course.
I really hope this works out and is cool but calling it East River is hilarious. That ain’t a river, that’s a dirty ass bayou
But its OUR dirty ass bayou!
Was able to score a single tomorrow morning at Gus Wortham. I know some of you play it regularly – any tips or course breakdowns?
Don’t hit it in the cemetary
Don’t be afraid to go wide left on 2-4. Better than hitting into (or across) the street, trust me I know
As a lefty that’s prone to the big left miss, this is music to my ears
Left is safe on most holes. Do not concern yourself with what par is on some of the holes as a couple par 5’s and par 4’s are all really 4.5’s. Also take one more club than you think you need on 5, plays a little longer than you think.
What a fun course and in amazing condition considering what I imagine is a lot of traffic. Huge fan and will definitely make this my go to when I’m back in town in the future visiting the in-laws.
Clubbing up on 5 was probably the right call but when you catch it fat I think that sort of defeats the purpose.
Played to my index with an 86. Could’ve been better but had a few blowup holes including 17 and 18. Walking probably wasn’t the right call in this heat.
Gus is very walkable outside of the summer season…props for walking!
Looking for a new course.
Normally play Memorial, Cypresswood’s and Gus
Bit of a hike but you should try Eagle Pointe sometime
Not sure what you are looking for, but those are the best courses in immediate Houston. Timber Creek is a good course, Sharpstown is a true Muni but it always has good greens. Blackhorse, Wildcat, High Meadow Ranch, and GCOH are usually pretty good but they can creek up towards $100 a round. Clear Creek is supposed to be in decent shape. Avoid Herman Park at all costs.
It’s a bit of a drive but Wilderness down in Lake Jackson has always been worth it to me
Last I had heard, Timber Creek was in rough shape after the freeze. Like greens are just dirt and weeds bad.
Could be. Seems like it got a little rougher once they allowed memberships too.
