Roll Call: Houston

Will be out of town. Otherwise I would be innnnnnnnn.

I know Fridays are obviously tougher so who can do Gus on Saturday April the 10th?

I think I can do a Sat morning round at Gus…I’ll claim one of those spots if you’ve got em.

Sweet. I’ll wait to see if anyone else is in and then we can collaborate on a ideal time.

Little late to the party, but could potentially play. If you’ve got some guys already than no worries

You will be our 4th!

Haha cool, I’ll let you know closer to than, but I bet I’ll probably be good to go

Late to respond too but love that y’all are #gettinginvolved. I’m a regular booker at Memorial so I’ll try to return the invitation soon!

If we’re booking Gus, we could try to get 2 groups back to back if there’s enough traction here…

Might be the first use of Gold Bond of the season when I come down

75 is downright chilly

Let me get on food recommendations before I forget. I’m over by Memorial. Liberty Kitchen looks great near me. Need one or maybe two more places.

If you don’t go to Himalaya you’ll be doing yourself a disservice.

better at lunch or dinner? and any dish in particular?

It’s a weird blend of Indian and Pakistani, with Texas flair. Go for dinner, bring a bottle of wine or something to drink (I’ve legit brought a bottle of whiskey in) and they’ll open it for you.

Pretty much everything is amazing, but definitely get the garlic naan or rocket naan and the Hara Masala, which is like Tikka Masala but made with Texas Hatch Green Chilies.

Edit: Bourdain ate there when he was in town and it’s consistently rated one of the best restaurants in town even though it looks like a straight hole in the wall.

Himalaya is a good recommendation for sure. I’d head into Chinatown for a meal and hit either Mala Sichuan or Mein. Jonathan’s the Rub in that area is also very good (American Food). If you feel like sushi Izakaya-Wa is fantastic. On the Mexican front it’s mostly the chains around there with Cyclone Anaya, Lupe Tortilla, Pappasitos, Ninfas…not the best, but if you are craving it, they will do.
