Hit up Golf Club of Houston on Friday. Good deal after 11am. course was in great shape, though the greens were slightly slower. Guess they were growing them out a bit after the UoH tournament was there earlier in the week. Was also glad to see that they finally took down their Shell Houston Open yardage signs on each of the holes, haha!
Going to be in Houston on 4/9 and 4/10. Will be playing golf both days. One of those hopefully Memorial and I hear you guys like Gus. Would love to play a round with any of you gents.
FYI - Just plan on booking your Memorial tee time 2 weeks out. They should be released at midnight or 6am. Keep in mind the non-resident rates at Memorial will have gone in effect so it’ll be $100+ for you.
For Gus, their bookings are 1 week out. If you have other questions let me know!
Thank you! Gonna set a reminder.
It’s possible to get out on Memorial without a tee time but it’s best to just head straight to the course when you wake up and put your name on the list in the pro shop computer. They will text you when you have a tee time. Grab some breakfast at Black Walnut or some Shipleys Donuts down the street while you wait.
Any courses in the area that are dog friendly? Has anybody taken a dog out to Hermann considering its in the middle of a park?
Honestly not sure. I would doubt Hermann would be okay with it, but then again you could have someone bring the dog from the trail (after you’ve teed off).
Right, that’s been my thought on the safest way to do it.
Because I have never seen anybody stop the people that walk their dog on the cart paths or across the course, or ride their bike, or jog. Which is a whole other discussion but don’t see why having your dog out there is much different
Seeing how hitting someone with a golf ball is a very realistic scenario, your dog surely won’t be a greater threat to patrons as that lol
What course? Could play polo with your hybrid!
Hello All,
I am new to the refuge, so I do not know if this has been discussed previously, but I am going to Houston to golf with a buddy in the next couple months. We are considering going to the Tour 18 course in Humble. Is it worth going to?
Welcome to the HTX party.
I haven’t played it but a good friend has been out there over the last few weeks and said it’s in average shape (for Tour 18). Naturally it’s a bit of a novelty and most folks conclude/recommend “you should try it out because it’s unique”. All to say there’s higher quality courses but I’m sure it’d be entertaining!
Haven’t played Tour 18 in awhile, but it is worth playing once. Check golfnow for any deal times. Golf club of Houston and Cypresswood Tradition are also good options in that area. Welcome to Houston
goat track.
Golf Club of Houston is much better.
What up people? Next Friday I got invited to go golfing with my boss up at the wood forest golf club. If anybody has played it let me know what to be on the lookout for!
Enjoy. My buddy is a member there so I’ve played it quite a bit. It’s pretty hard and the greens are very fast, probably rolling a 12 at the moment. There’s 3 9s, the West is the hardest one. But it’s a great course, amazing pace of play, and they have a nice grill at the turn.
Funny, I hadn’t heard of the club before but I’m moving up to the woodlands and it’s only 15 minutes away. Do you think your buddy would mind sharing his thoughts on membership there?
He loves it but he’s got a pretty good deal. He gets an extremely discounted rate for carrying a Woodforest towel on National TV.
It’s a great course and if you have the money, it’s definitely the best bang for your buck membership around. It always plays quick, they have great food and drinks, the range is really nice, and they even have pads on every hole so if you want to play the course as 27 Par-3s you can.
