Roll Call: Georgia/Tennessee Golfers

I took the advice of this thread and drove out of my way to play the Fields and it was 100% worth it. Love that place, can’t wait to get back.

Not exactly on the way from atl to lookout but 1 hr half east of Chattanooga is Old Toccoa Farm. It is very fun, I think nlu did a video on it at some point

Think we played The kettle at Erin Hills. Welcome.! I second Quinn and enjoy those tracks. When are you getting in? I’m unfortunately not able to play that weekend.

Yep that was me! I’m going to be back in the area this fall too as I signed up for the Old Barnwell Fried Egg event (after having to back out of last year’s due to an NIT invite :grinning:)

There will certainly be some Saturday games around Atlanta too. But the fields is worth the drive and then you can take the scenic route thru west Ga and the bama hills to Sewanee

If you want to go c-suite ($275 for 18 w/ cart), check out McLemore https://www.themclemore.com/

You have to join their free “Friends of McLemore” program before you can make a tee time as they track how many times you can play there per year. But the process is very easy.

The course is very close to Chattanooga (40 minutes) so this could lessen the blow of the expense. Also, when I played, I was treated like a member. Great staff, etc. Definitely a good day.

Hate that I won’t be in town. Look forward to trying to link back up in the fall.

Looks like I am going to be available to play on Saturday as well. I have never played here but it looks cool and it is on the way to Chattanooga.

I’d be down, too

Looking to play Monday after the RCC. Any recommendations for places to play that’s between Sweetens and Atlanta?

Fields Ferry, Barnsley, or get down to Atlanta.

What are your time constraints? Is there a flight at ATL at the end of the day you have to make or is it something the next day after this driving/golf day?

Yes, flying back at 9pm out of Atlanta. Figured I’d try to get some golf in on a travel day.

It’s not on the way. But with a 9pm flight, you’d be able to do it if you wanted. You’re probably not gonna be in the area again and compared to the courses listed above, IMO, actually worth checking out as a maybe only opportunity ever experience.

Old Toccoa Farm. They’re open on Mondays. My guess is you might have the course practically to yourself and fly.

2-2.5hr drive from Chatt. to Blue Ridge. I think you’ll play in sub 4 hours, but call it 5 total. Then it’s 2 hour drive from there to ATL.

Leave Chatt 5:30am (6:30 eastern).
9:30 tee time at OTF.
2pm leaving

You’re in Atlanta with plenty of time. Even if you leave by 3pm you’re still fine. I think you have to leave Chatt fairly early though cause traffic getting from Sweetens to the other side of Chatt will be your issue.

Awesome course worth a trip to versus just somewhere to play. Always rumors its going private so truly don’t know when you may get the chance again.

If you just want any normal round to kill time on a travel day - don’t do this. It’s adding a lot of logistics to your day. But with the amount of time you have, I truly cannot recommend checking out this course enough. It’s my favorite (currently) public course in Georgia that I’ve ever played.
