We then had a very average meal at The Woods before attempting to play the Jupiter Par 3. Easily the “worst” course we planned to play the entire trip but the only one that didn’t allow my buddy’s dog. And not only did they not allow it (which, fair enough) but they were complete dicks about it. Not cool and not recommended.
From there made our way up to Jax and hit up the Amelia River Club. Was awesome being right by the air strip. Saw a bunch of planes doing touch and gos and a trio of black hawks doing exercises. For the $60 we paid I thought it was fun. Looks like it can get up to $130 and not sure I’d pay that.
Finished up the golfing portion of the trip at Jax Beach - which absolutely lived up to the hype. Had a blast and was the best round of the trip in windy condittys.
What’s up Folks! I am heading to Fort Lauderdale to get out of the Michigan cold. Anyone have some Recs in the area? Also, anyone down to play? I’m there from the 22nd-29th of Dec! Let me know and thank ya!
Also take a look at Emerald Hills in Hollywood and Davie Golf Club in Davie. Emerald Hills has traditionally been one of the nicer daily fee courses in the area (can’t speak to recent conditions). I’ve never played Davie, but their reputation is for “fun” (read undulating) green complexes.
Any recommendation for golf in Marco island area? I live in North Dakota but my wife and I will be down there in Feb for a trip. Looking to play a round or two. Anyone live in that area?
I live in Naples. Unfortunately most of the courses (especially the good ones) are private. Not sure if any of the Marco hotels have arrangements with courses there. Naples Grande hotel has a good course. LaPlaya resort has a good course (that is where I belong). Not sure if LaPlaya hotel will be open yet from Hurricane Ian
In-laws rented a house on Marco so we have a place to stay already. I noticed the private thing while browsing online. Was hoping to find better news in this thread ha.
I have played Valencia which is public. It is a little bit of a hike from Marco, but a decent enough course. You could join me on a Sunday morning at LaPlaya (North Naples) if that works for your trip. The guest fee is $178, but course is in perfect condition always and round will be about 3 hours
Good info, will definitely let you know as it gets closer. I think my wife will want to play as well so that would complicate things. Looked up the course, looks beautiful.
I’ll be down in Orlando area (Orange Lake resort, right next to Animal Kingdom more specifically). Hoping to play some golf outside of the resort this year and teeing it up with some FL refugees would be great! What are some good recs in the area and would anyone be interested in playing? I’ll be there Feb 15th-23rd.
We’ve got a lot of regional FL threads, so you’re likely to find recent Orlando reviews and recommendations in our Orlando thread:
From Orange Lake Resort, you’re in proximity to Celebration, Orange County National, Legends in Clermont (not Legends at OLR), and our consensus recommendation - Grand Cypress Links Course. Southern Dunes is a bit further south but is a great track as well.
I can pick up a time but would much rather be told when and where to be. Bay Hill, Isleworth, I’m not too picky.
I’ve ready OCN-Panther is good.
I have zero preferences. Would rather peg it, hit giggle and mansplain why Disney took all my money.
