I second pennsauken as a good south jersey close to the city option.
If you’re talking shore south jersey, I also like twisted dune in egg harbor township.

Definitely. McCullough’s is good too.
Bella Vista bumped their prices up, and they won’t let you book as a solo anymore. Plus it has the woooooooooooooooooooorst closing hole with a par 3 18th.
McCullough’s is definitely a good time. If the wind picks up, you’re in for a tough day.
I will never understand why golf courses hate solos. If you have open tee times that will go unfilled or two- or three-somes that can take a solo, whyyyyyy would you turn down the revenue?
Airlines get it. They discount last minute seats that go unsold. Golf courses have yet to figure out that they’re leaving money on the table.
Looking at you, Jeffersonville…
I’m glad people share my frustration with not being able to book as a single. It’s especially hard being new to the area.
It blows my mind that courses would say no to singles. Like was mentioned, they fill in the gaps meaning more $$ for the course. Also, what’s keeping me from booking a 2 some and then the day beforehand, calling and cancelling one of the golfers? If anything you will see more people trying to work around it leading to even more open tee slots.
Why not let singles book a tee time and if they want to show up early and slide into an opening before their tee time, let em. It’s only going to end up allowing more people out onto the course.
I really opened the floodgates here
I have done this more than once. Don’t really get it either ![]()
This is late but there is also Pitman Golf Course. Good price for an enjoyable time. Greatest course? No. Decent enough for a fun round, yes. Although I think they just aerated their greens.
I just played Westwood in Deptford this morning for the first time. Lot of fun but was not expecting the greens to be lightning fast. Is it always that way? Some of those greens are no joke.
I always see this on the apps but have not played it. Decent? Would you recommend?
I’d definitely play again. It was a fun layout. It does tip out at about 6200 which is way good for me but not everyone. The guy I was paired with told me that it can often be the typical 5 hour slog (I played it because it was one on the few I found on supreme golf that had 6am times).
Full disclosure, 15 is a top 5 dumb hole. The rest were fun, somewhat varied and as I mentioned some interesting greens, albeit some questionable pins today.
I played it today on a whim. The good: the greens were slippery quick and rolling true, maybe the best greens I’ve played so far this year.
The bad: my god, the tee boxes and at least one fairway. I’m glad they’re putting their efforts into the putting surfaces, which are really nice, but the tees are truly a #toughscene. The pace of play was 5 hours at 8:42, but I blame the group in front of us. The ranger was out at least once, likely twice, to move them along.
I would definitely play it again. Fun little track. Thanks for the rec.
I forgot about that fairway, I think it’s 6 that was clearly sodded fairly recently and has not settled at all. Good call there.
The last 3 days I’ve played the Bucks Club and Jeffersonville. I recommend both.
Bucks Club had some wild greens and funky holes. The conditions was pretty good, but the greens were a little bumpy.
Jeffersonville was pretty fantastic. The greens were very quick and very true. Great value for $50. You CANNOT short side yourself and expect to recover.
I would love to play both again.
I just closed out my buddy on that hole 2 weeks ago. he rinsed it and made a 6. Is that you, Bob??? haha
Hey south Jersey/Philly friends. First time posting here … I mostly play over at Valleybrook in Blackwood … it’s been in the best shape I’ve ever seen it and growing up playing there it has a soft spot in my heart. If anyone is looking for a game there or any other local courses I’d love to play with fellow NLU family.
Welcome!!! Valleybrook is where I made my very first eagle ha ha ha. Glad to hear it’s in good shape. Used to play there and ramblewood a lot before joining Burlington CC a few years back.
BCC is a great course. Played there years ago
