Roll Call: Eastern PA/ South NJ

We have a small group of 12 guys that started a Tuesday night 9-hole league that’s been going for about 10 years now. The Sunday morning Jeffersonville Golf Association was recently disbanded for various reasons. Honestly I would call Mike Housley, the head pro, and ask if he can hook you up with anything. I think there’s a number of weeknight leagues if you’re interested.

Do you live in the shore area? I grew up going to Cape May and Sea Isle but really never had a chance to get out and play any golf at the shore. Trying now to make up for all the lost time but never have anyone to play with when I’m there.

Thanks for the info!

I must have somehow missed this thread! You can find me at Twisted Dune, Green Tree, Pinelands, Vineyard National, Blue Heron Pines, McCulloughs, etc. I’m in Atlantic County always down to play now that the weather is turning.

Putting this out here in addition to the Philadelphia thread:

Anyone looking to play on 4/24? I’m a single playing off of 12, usually in MontCo but will travel.

Anyone playing in the BMW Qualifier at Running Deer on sat 5/22? planning on playing a practice round if anyone wants to join next Tuesday the 11.

What time are you playing on Tuesday?

I’m not playing in the qualifier, but I’d be happy to join you for your practice round. I’ve been a member at Running Deer since 2014. I’m happy to share a little local knowledge.

Was shooting for around noonish. Would love to have you join.

I booked Noon on 5/11 for myself and 3 guests. One of those guest spots is for @LayingTheSod, if no one claims the other spots by Sunday morning, I’ll cancel those spots.

Awesome man thanks. Looking forward to it.

I am traveling to the south Jersey area this weekend, and trying to find somewhere good to play Sunday afternoon. We’re supposed to eat with family in center city at 12:30 and I want to sneak out for 18 after that.

Any recommendations?

Scotland Run is really good.

As long as you’re willing to spend too much on a Sunday round, Riverwinds or Scotland Run are your best bet for jaunts that aren’t too far.

I’m coming in hot: River Winds blows. See what I did there?

  1. Jaws should be ashamed of himself for how overpriced this course is
  2. It is borderline unwalkable and has a legitimately strange routing
  3. Conditions are fine, but nowhere near what they should be for the price
  4. The views aren’t even that good
  5. 17 is a stupid hole

Play Pennsuaken over River Winds, but Scotland Run is a gem.

I think that is the consensus amongst the group here.

  1. It is always overbooked. 5 hour round minimum.

Thanks for confirming that, guys. I was considering Riverwinds, mainly because it’s close to CC and I thought it might have cool views, but the twilight cheapest price is $96. That’s a little rich for a course I don’t know.

My wife’s cousin suggested the Bucks Club. I reckon is further north, but he likes the course.

Anyone have any intel?

We are playing Jeffersonville later in the week, so I’m stoked about that.

Bucks Club is a pretty solid course, but comes with some drawbacks. First and foremost, 2 very different nines, the front being more a classic parkland feel but the back was rerouted to accommodate housing development and winds up winding through a lot of that. As a result it’s a pretty hefty walk with there being all kinds of hikes between tees/greens on the back. If you plan on riding though it’s not bad. If you’re traveling outside the immediate Philly area there’s a number of options around though.

Thanks for the info.

I haven’t done any research about Bucks Club, but he mentioned it last time, and I like to play courses that other people like, who aren’t as woke snobby as me, lol.

Last time, we played Torresdale and LuLu, and we are playing Jeffersonville, so I can’t complain about a possibly mediocre course in the mix.

I’ve probably said this on here a few times now, but Lederach, Turtle Creek, and Bella Vista are my favorites in the suburbs.

I like it, but Jeffersonville is way, way too hard to get on for what it is.
