Roll Call - Dallas, TX

Anyone want to take over a tee time tomorrow at Tierre Verde Arlington Tx? $62ish. Booked a two-some and none of my buddies can go. Let me know asap. 1210pm. Thanks.

Would it be possible for someone to send another link please? Thanks!

Local Dallas eastsider (live about 3 minutes from Tenison) and new to the Nest.

Would love to get plugged into the Big Plex discord and DFW roost. Hope to get out on the links with some of y’all soon!

Howdy! We’d be happy to get you involved.

First things first, join our discord, which has a welcome page that explains everything about our roost: Big Plex

Second, I’ll get you added to the roost on here. That will give you access to our roost specific threads.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Awesome! Thanks man

I’m going to be in Frisco visiting family and I want to know if Fields Ranch East is worth the cost or is it going to be based on how much I value playing a major championship course.

Does anyone know of any weekly Men’s leagues or games in Dallas? I’m right down the street from Stevens and would like an excuse to play 9 holes once a week.

Also, @duckhunter07 could you please provide an updated discord link. I would like to join. Thanks.

You bet, here you are: Big Plex

Also, Keeton Park does a Tuesday night 4-man scramble and Golf Club of Dallas does a Thursday night 2-man scramble. We will also be doing a fall series where we play 4 different Colligan courses, so stay tuned for that.

Second this question. I am flying in the morning of 7/31 and will be looking to play somewhere that day. Anywhere I should definitely check out?

When are you going to be here? I would say unless you’re a sicko of the highest order, the East course will be quite the soul crusher for the next few months. The heat is here, you have to walk, and it will test the game mightily. If you want to check out the place, the west course allows carts and is the one designed for most mere mortals.

For other spots, personally I’ll always suggest Texas Rangers first. Big Plex’s course rotation focuses heavily Kemp/Colligan designs and this was the course build with their largest budget. Our home course for our major is Cedar Crest (greens could be an issue) and Stevens Park is great if you can pull off a tee time. Up in the Frisco/Plano area, my honorable mention would be Pecan Hollow.

Hey everyone,

New to the area as of last week and looking forward to checking out all the golf. I’m an ER nurse so I’m also mostly available during the week and always looking for a group to play with if there’s anyone else that does shift work. Also, would love to join the discord but all of the previous invite links have expired, so if someone could send a new one I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I know weather is hit or miss (I’ve had enough delays or cancellations at DFW in January), but hypothetically speaking, if you were dumb, had no issue with cold windy weather, how risky would it be to plan a quick 3 day trip for some golf end of Jan beginning of feb?

Would love to check out PGA frisco and wherever else is recommended. Not afraid to drive a little either.

It could be 50 or DFW could be closed due to ice - but if there’s ice the good news is that the ice will melt in 2 days and nobody that lives there will be able to get out of their neighborhood so it might be the best time to visit Dallas

I’ve spent enough time in DFW to know how that goes lol. Just haven’t played much TX golf unfortunately. Was planning a trip back to AZ/SoCal but some things changed with my schedule making my little getaway have to be condensed. That’s when DFW popped into my head for a quick trip

Our second biggest event of the year, the Ice Bowl, is this exact part of the year. We’ve had temps in the high 50s to mid 60s every year. As @whk3 said, even if we do get a front, minus 1 or 2 big ones a year, it’ll be gone fairly quickly. It’s probably the same risk as rain in the spring.

Here was our event on January 28.

Color me intrigued. I have a free pass for a golf trip for my 30th. Thought about frisco east and west running to dornick hills and calling it a trip

I would forewarn that playing a winter version of Frisco East, possibly in windy conditions, may make you question why you play golf. (Pro: it could really pad your handicap.) But I am way in on your Dornick/Frisco West idea. A few of us did a full day up at DH last winter and it was a blast.
