Roll Call: Connecticut

Right on. Perhaps we have a drink and commiserate on the privatization of a favorite course.:beers:

I remember playing there for the first time in 2020. The greens were a brown wasteland. I think the irrigation failure had something to do with it. I felt terrible when the guys I got paired with told me what they were charged that day. I guess they have some funding now. Hopefully they get it back to what it was intended to be because the overall layout was pretty intriguing.

Yeah the power outage that summer totally fucked them and then the head greenkeeper quit… The four times I played in spring and fall of 2021 the greens were better each time than the last… Such a beautiful course and fun design. Glad I got to play it when I still had the option!

Where does everyone play around CT? I’ve been here three years, and feel like I haven’t branched out much. I mostly stuck to TPC, Wethersfield and Madison these few years. I’d really like to branch out now that I’ll have some time to play this year.

I moved out here in August last year. Live in Farmington which sounds somewhat close to you. Enjoyed a few rounds at Keney and Wintonbury Hills before the winter. Would be down to get together for a round this season if you’d like.

If you guys are looking for rounds this summer there are quite a few CT people (including myself) in the RACDG Chapter/Roost for the NYC Metro area. We are organizing events and meetups through NY/CT/NJ throughout the summer, including our big annual open at Keney Park in Hartford. Feel free to message me or our captain @HibernatingBear with any questions.

Jon Janik at Longshore!

I second this. The event at Keney Park is amazing; @PinePocky and I very much enjoyed it.

@GeauxLow: both @PinePocky and I teach at the Taft school and, as a result, are both members at Watertown Golf Club. We mostly play there, but would love to expand where we play. If anyone is interested in coming to play Watertown, just let me know.

I need to take you up on that Watertown invite when the weather allows!

Is there a date for the Keney event yet? Love that course and could see it being a ton of fun for tournaments, I would absolutely be interested.

That sounds excellent. I’m looking forward to the driving range opening again so I can find my swing again. This is a task that may require a young priest, and old priest, and a seeing eye dog.

If the offer still stands, I would love to take you up on it too. I am working on joining Hartford GC and would be happy to reciprocate when/if I get that set up.

@Renlibrarian and I live about 10-15 minutes apart, I am in Southbury and a member of Silo Point CC as well. If we want to get a private club tour going in this area of CT would be more than happy to host. We just opened this past weekend!

I’ve played Wintonbury a good bit and really like it. I’d definitely be down to get a game going.

I would appreciate that for sure! I could also get us out to River Highlands a few times as well.

@Renlibrarian I’m not a priest but I could absolutely help out. I teach out of Go Golf Academy in Branford and North Haven.

Hey yall!
I’m a one time CT resident who is currently living in California. I’m coming back in June for my brother’s wedding in Orange and I would love to get onto Yale. If anyone can help me out with this fantasy I would greatly appreciate it!

I might have to tag along on this one. Maybe a repeat of last year’s spring pilgrimage to the old stomping grounds

Yale is public now and you can just make a tee time. Last year you needed to have a CT license to play, not sure what the deal is for this year

I live up in Stafford Springs and have a season pass to play at Cedar Knob in Somers, which is a fun spot with an excellent staff. Highly recommended! I’ve also just started making golfing vlogs, which has been fun: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm-o3xgT76pxZPQdfbqYtCw/videos
I’m planning to make vlogs at other public courses in CT!

Yeah it’s only open to residents still. I’m going to try to use my brother’s ID and play.
