I Mel Kiper’ed that one
Denver meteorology Twitter seems to think that DIA is going to have enough snow to come in as the second biggest snowstorm in Denver history. Damn.
Have a tee time tomorrow at 1:30 at CommonGround, anyone want to play?
@Josh-P is probably game.
I measured 17 inches in my backyard. My area of town was predicted to get 20-24 inches, so this is actually a bit lower than predicted for us. Good thing, because I don’t know where I’d put more snow.
I would be game to play. I’m also glad I didn’t put money on the over/under because I was very wrong. Happy we got that much snow though - should help the drought conditions some and make the greens roll
Just finished my 5th pass (4 yesterday, 1 today). Today’s was nice and light, super fluffy, was a pleasure to clear. Glad this storm is over. When’s golf season?
Better man than I am, I tried to push some snow around but it didn’t go well.
You inspired me to take a patio pic!
I’m not venturing out, but our street has been plowed, and it looks like our neighborhood has been plowed, too. Seems like they’re doing a good job plowing at least.
Fun things I discovered about my snow blower during this snowstorm:
- The screws holding the pull start to the engine love to come loose! Good thing I had an extra half dozen laying around, because I lost them all. Need to find a fix for that.
- I really need to check the oil level more often. I need to do a full oil change on this thing now.
Driveway had a good 3ft drift over most of it. Once I got the first pass through it was smooth sailing. Slow and steady.
The end of the driveway and sidewalk were turning into nothing but a foot of slush though. I also tried to take the snowblower across the street help a neighbor get their car out after having been plowed in. That little endeavor was harder than clearing my entire driveway. Just concrete out there after being plowed in and then the sun hitting it.
Took the pickup out into the street to try to pack down some of the plows work in front of the garage so the wife could get out tomorrow. That was fun.
Sunday was wild. With one last pass we retreat to wait on the plow. Thank goodness I had my team’s "support."
Hi all! NC native hopping over to the Colorado board for a question. Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to litter the page with non-snow pictures (looks like you got a lot!!). My wife and I are taking a now twice re-scheduled alternate honeymoon road trip from Las Vegas to Denver in mid-May. Our final stop in Denver should be for 2-3 days. For those in or familiar with Denver, where is the best area to stay in that is walkable to good restaurants/breweries/bars? And feel free to add any must-eats/drinks/do’s in the area. We typically use airbnb or pick a hotel, but if there’s any other better use for finding places to stay that you would suggest I’m all ears. Thanks in advance!!
LoDo/RiverNorth/Ballpark/Five Points neighborhoods are your best bets for food and fun. Although, North Capitol Hill has some nice spots as well along 17th Ave.
Must-Eats? I always recommend Work and Class in Five Points. It’s been closed for a while due to COVID, but they say they are opening in early May, so maybe take a look. Uchi is an asian fusion place close by. I’ll throw a shout to Dio Mio for pasta as well.
For breweries, you’ll find more than you can shake a stick at in the area, but I recommend at least dipping your toe into Bierstadt Lagerhaus if you’re a german beer sort of person. It’s sort of the “place where all the other brewers hang out”. And also Blackshirt Brewing.
If you’re into wine, there is a nice urban winery call Infinite Monkey Theorom in the area. Or Barcelona Wine Bar (Spanish wine and very good tapas!)
If you’re interested in boutique’y types of hotels (for honeymoon) I’ll recommend The Ramble, right across the street from Work and Class. It also has a Death&Co bar in it if you’re into fancy cocktails. But I’d bet there is a thriving AirBnb market in the area as well.
Edit: Almost forgot…hit the Cherry Cricket across from Coors Field for a burger.
Cherry Cricket is great for burgers, and is a Denver staple. If you’re in that area, I’d highly, highly recommend Machete for street tacos and drinks. My wife and I make a trip monthly from the burbs to the Cherry Creek location.
Awesome, I really appreciate all of information! You’ve sold me on the german beer garden, speaking to my roots. We can’t wait to get out there even if it is due to our original honeymoon trip being moved again. It’s a trip we’ve wanted to make for awhile. Hoping to make a Rockies game too. Thanks!
Another good German brewery is Prost. It’s walkable from the Coors Field area but it is across the interstate via the 20th St. overpass.
Hey y’all. I’m new to the refuge, but have been in Colorado most of my life. I’m up in Fort Collins, I scanned through and didn’t see many people up here. Hopefully I’ll be able to join on some of the stuff in Denver.
Yeah I’m up in the fort but don’t think anyone else is.
Welcome!
Im also looking forward to be able to meat up
