Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 2)

Chicago towing companies are the absolute worst, had a friend get towed in the time we ran into a Starbucks, couldn’t have been away for more than five minutes.

First off, welcome to the city.

Thanks! Couldn’t be more excited.

Checked out 5i - that membership looks like a strong choice. Once we get settled might reach out for some more specific recs. Looking forward to it!!

Check out the breakfast ball thread to get pre work 9’s.

Most convenient 18-holer to city dwellers is Harborside.

I believe we have our collective course rankings somewhere?

And @TCRBrad will haze you if you don’t share your favorite pizza place and domestic beer.

Piece should be the answer in your new neighborhood for both imo.

The Pizza is solid, and nothing against their beer, but there is a metric shit tonne of competition for best local beer in that neighborhood. If I’m going out for pizza and beer, it’s a great choice. If I’m going out just for beer, it may not even be top ten. Also, it’s Wicker Park.

I’ve lived here 15 years and Bucktown and Wicker still blend together for me.

I agree with you on piece as well! Pizza vibes beer all great. Hopewell the best brewery in that area? Who could say.

Bucktown is a lie

I could say. It’s not. I used to live right around the corner. The best brewery in that area is Metropolitan. Also, when Hopewell opened it was like five bucks for a 19 ounce “pint”. Must have lost all that glassware, because they’re back to smaller pours now. I liked having it that close, and went there a fair amount, but you can’t beat Metro’s deck, and I’m a lager lover. Also got married at the Rev brewpub, so a soft spot for Revolution. If Pipeworks ever opens that spot on California, that’s a game changer.

Excellent discussion on the breweries in those more western areas. Many solid knowledgeable takes.

Welcome @Stelmo. The best breweries are in the north. As is an easy to get on 9 holer Robert Black right off a (the?) major artery and convenient for you, Western Ave.

that’s why people always say I live in Bucktown/Wicker Park.

For the record i was Damen and Webster. Still no idea what that area was.

Love Metropolitan. Don’t sleep on Ravinia (beer is pretty good, tacos, especially breakfast tacos, are even better) and Maplewood (son of juice of course )!

Hosting family this weekend and convinced a 2 hour kayak trip with sneaky intent for Metro. I was caught.

The Ravinia taco offering is sneaky good as are the porch swing tables.

(North for the Win!)

Lac la Belle is well worth the trip. Played yesterday 36. Scenic layout with well placed bunkers off the tee. Deep green side bunkers with perfectly groomed sand. I.e firm and just enough to play out of and not bury in the face. Greens are fast a slopped and are made to make creative shots off the contours. Plenty of topography, trees and water to make very scenic experience. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Another gem that Wisconsin has. And not the prices of Kohler Sand Valley or Erin Hills.

Afternoon Gentlemen,

Just moved to Chicago and figured I’d sign up for 5iron summer series golf league. Its during weeknights either 6 or 8. Looking for a partner. I probably play to about an 8. Not too worried about winning and just looking to drink and meet some people.

Also if anyone’s looking for an extra golfer on the weekends then hit me up. 559-786-1331
