@Pinehurts and myself are looking to play Highland Woods on Saturday if anyone else is interested. I’m seeing 9:20 and 9:30 foursomes wide open. Need to play in one of those tee times before heading off to family events later in the day. Reply if you’re interested!
Elgin CC is great. Tough walk with the hills.
Nice thing about our area is there are options, some people are not so lucky.
I grew up playing the sycamore public course, anywhere I end up will be a blessing.
I had a couple buddies join clubs out that way and did various prospective member test drives. Definitely inquire about a visit.
I am not sure the pricing on golf vs full social but StCCC was referenced- definitely full service club with pool, tennis, etc. My buddies joined there for the kids and spouse aspect vs pure golf.
While we are on western suburb talk…anyone else get their 2023 property tax assessments? . Anyone worked on doing their own appeal ? or maybe I going to need some recommendations for local lawyers.
Must stink to be a home owner /s
Elgin CC is a good walk once you get used to it. My best friend from college’s family are members there, so I get the privilege of getting out there 7-10 times a season.
Seems like they have a solid junior golf program (nice range, big practice chipping green, several elite junior/college golfers play out of there or at least take lessons with their head pro.
However, the membership base is an interesting bunch, from what I can tell. Seems like a lot of early to mid 30s “Barstool-adjacent” guys are joining and can get pretty rowdy from what I have heard from my buddy’s family. Then again, the course is rarely crowded which is good because of how bunched up the fairways are.
I hear Chicago Golf Club is nice
Probably worth a trial round at least.
I’d be interested.
Uh that place is kinda funky imo. The greens are like squares instead of circles. Probably done by some second rate architect who didn’t know how to make circles yet.
I booked him and I as a twosome online because it would not let me book as a single. It should let you book as a single now if you can make it!
Yea, I tried finding their membership inquiry form, oddly I came up empty. lol
Possibly also interested.
If you go even further west, like all the way to the border it’s actually ok.
Who needs private clubs when you can play all day at Kankakee Elks March 23, 2024. Some are calling it the Sweetens Cove of the north.
It’s been ages since I’ve been on here (blames wife, two young kids, work, and a gajillion other things) but I sadly felt there’s some need to announce my despondent resignation from the 2cgc. I have no idea if this is the proper way to achieve such an act and I’m fairly deep in a champagne stupor, but it seemed like the thing to do as I lay on an air mattress on our new house’s floor waiting on the moving trucks tomorrow. This all comes associated with living through an insane last month and a half which included unexpectedly getting a place in mid-Michigan, selling our place, interviewing for a new job, packing, keeping above-mentioned children alive through what felt like inordinate amounts of sickness since Thanksgiving, having a dog get skin health issues that turned into biopsy needing issues a week before the move, then having youngest kiddo spike over 104 degree fever the 3 days before said move… but we’ve made it and I’m out. Good bye Illinois and Chicagoland. I’ll miss you all. On to @FreshCoastFlock life. Please come visit in E Lansing. I’ll try to play more golf, be more involved, and get my golf shot together as soon as my 17 mo old chills the #^%] out
Nice cavity backs @wseitz26
