Created a spreadsheet for social event interest. Currently momentum around Strawberry Creek and Flossmoor. Feel free to add other sheets.

He tries to play a draw, so the chloroform ball is more likely.

Hello All,

Looking to join a private club that isn’t a terrible drive from the tri cities (st charles, geneva batavia area) that preferably has a junior membership.

Pretty active player, who enjoys league play, and the occasional friendly wager.

Any recommendations are appreciated, to date I have been a muni warrior my whole life.

Thanks

If it were me - there are 2 categories:

Public:
Bowes Creek + HoE ~ $4k (unlimited golf and preferred tee times at two of the best courses in the state? Yes please. Not to mention the vibe at Bowes is SIIIIICK.
This is likely the route I would go…

You could also sign at Prairie Landing if you’d like as well - lotta wind and a few more pace of play issues though…

Private

The Hawk
Royal Fox

These two are in the same “family” of clubs and you’d get access to other courses like The Grove and Hawthorn Woods (I believe). Hawk will be the less expensive one.

Eagle Brook - if you’re looking to include any other amenities to your experience, this is the quintessential “modern club”. This is also your most expensive option.

Old Wayne - the sister course to Stonehenge, I believe this is still “golf only” with a limited food and beverage option and a “no alcohol” policy. But it’s an easy walk and has a bonus 9 hole loop as well!

Geneva GC - Love me a good 9 hole track. Never played it, but the course looks like a super chill walk with some really fun holes.

I can help here. Was a member of the fox/hawk trio in HS

I don’t believe the hawk and fox are as “friendly” as they used to be. Bang for the buck the hawk is great. Head pro Brian is the man! Both courses are not an easy walk if you are into that.

Eaglebrook: it’s an upscale mill creek. Not a great design and is more of a social membership

Geneva cc: if you can get in it’s one of my favorite walks. No par 5s but super quick to loop and can jump off at any point and be at the clubhouse. Not much of a bar/practice area

Old Wayne: fun but good luck getting in. Also no booze

St cc. Probably the best facility but I’m sure it’s the most expensive.

Aurora CC is a good Balance if it’s close enough to you @Kerry can attest

Black sheep: I heard they had a 4 for 40k program for junior members but that’s not official by any means

An upscale mill creek :eyes::eyes::eyes: sounds like heaven.

It’s the same staff and both courses were built to raise property values

Stonebridge might also be a good option, I have no idea what the pricing is like there.

Well, not for purchase. That’s why god invented flasks.

@Kerry and I were just talking about this. They had a bunch of marketing this year around “join now for $3K before we go to $30K” or something in that ballpark, which leads me to believe you could still negotiate something in the lower range. Kind of like Black Friday deals. Like, if I didn’t buy it for the super low price you were offering yesterday, what makes you think I’d pay 3x that price today?

Thank you all for the responses.

Thanks for the insight.

I’m fortunate enough to play Geneva often and agree with your assessment.

Black Sheep is a front runner from a pure golf perspective. Not sure what 4 for 40 deal means but I don’t have four kids as I am only 26 ha.

I hope this group is a no dumb questions space. Is it possible play a private club in anticipation of joining. Some places look sweet online but for me the course is the biggest factor. Member invite only places I understand most likely you’ve played before joining.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I could walk to Bowes Creek from my current place of shelter. That being said I can’t stand public tracks that do 9 minute tee time intervals. I genuinely believe it should be illegal. Place is a pace of play nightmare every day after wednesday.

Part of the allure of private is pace of play and the ability to host a client or two at an “exclusive” track/ club.

4 years for 40k (10k per year)

We are kinda in the same area. I currently live in Campton Hills

And for trial runs I believe most clubs will give you a tour and let you take the course for a test drive if you are a potential member.

If you are near Bowes I’m sure you have heard of Elgin Cc. Super fun course right off rte-20 and gets lightning fast in the summer. @HackMarkham and I played out there earlier this year and had a blast
