Anyone know anything about the Whitetail Ridge dome that’s going up??

@mduenas3 I’m just following instructions.

@xlink and @golfscout would have to answer that. But in my experience 2CGC is a working class roost, and most people I play with are trying to play fun courses that are a good value over expensive courses.

@nschumerth Lots of value golf options. Forest Preserve courses and such are easy on the wallet. Especially now, when prices are typically lower. Let’s play soon if possible, take advantage of this nice fall weather.

Where do you live?

Paging @rmbartell

Gentlemen my apologies there no excuses on the lack of communication there. Went through an injury that kept me out of golf all fall and completely spaced on anything golf related

Sorry to hear that. Hope your healing is coming along well.

Hyde Park, but I work in Homewood. I’d love to take advantage of this amazing fall weather (it was what I was most nostalgic for before coming back). I’m all ears for course ideas/deals, especially two weekends from now (27th-29th before the Racine event) or maybe squeezed in on the right weekday afternoon.

You have Calumet and Ravisloe right there for early PM weekday rounds.

I’m slightly biased but this is the best Chicagoland public golf course map IMHO. It’s incomplete, in that I have about another 60 courses in my backlog that I need to add to it (fun winter project!) which include south suburban courses near Homewood like Calumet CC, Coyote Run, Glenwoodie, etc.

But you can see prices and stuff on there too. LMK your schedule and we’ll set something up.

This rocks - thanks so much for sharing this. As a GIS major in college, I absolutely love these kinds of things. The news updates below are an outright professional touch. Good work.

Didn’t realize how good late day rates are at Odyssey Golf Foundation - it’s a few minutes from work. May have to use that as a late afternoon “getaway” for 3pm rounds.

@dgolfman62281 with the injury (get well soon, @mduenas3), do you still need a sub match for Pool 4? Happy to talk about that here or on Discord.

I have been terribly absent since our WBC League ended. It’s like a piece of me has been missing. Being tagged here was the dopamine shot I needed.

I have some upcoming weekends free and would love to sub/fill a spot if I’m free. Where and when am I needed?

Are you back from injury, or do you need a sub to take your spot?

I’ll let @mduenas3 speak to his fitness for playing, but I’m not sure of my availability the rest of the year. The next free day that I could play around is Friday, October 27th around 9:30 am, give or take 20 minutes depending on location. Any other dates would in November.

But let’s take this to the Rap Round thread.

Made it out to Arboretum yesterday cause the weather was too damn nice not to play some fall golf.
I haven’t played there since 2014/2015 and always remembered them charging about $10 - $15 more than they should for the quality of course, conditions, and pace of play.

I’m here to tell you that those may have been the fastest greens I’ve putted on this season…and it was the middle of October! Tremendous conditions considering all the rain we just had, greens ran fast and pure - which meant the subtle breaks and slopes really took effect and made it a nightmare to try and score.

Shoutout to Nick, an old fella from “The Old Country, Greece” who asked to join me on the back 9. The guy was an absolute gem of a human with takes ranging anywhere from how to stay married for 40+ years, to why everyone needs to jump in a large body of water from time to time.

$50 riding seems frozen in time from when I last played - and I’d argue it might slowly be turning into a decent value for the price (in this economy.gif)

Amazing! We could totally use you as a sub in Pool 4.

Here’s how it works. You schedule one match each against @Jacktus31 and @dgolfman62281 (preferably in y’alls DMs) this Fall.

Each Match is worth a total of 4 points.
2 Points for the winner of the 18 hole match.
1 point for the winner of each nine. If you end a nine tied you each get half a point.

The top two points earners from each Pool advance to a 16 seed single elimination match play tournament to take place in Spring 2024. The Fall pool play means everyone plays a minimum of two matches in the tournament, and we have a merit based system for seeding our single elimination bracket.

Arboretum is the worst course in the area. Full stop at any price.

How big is “the area” ?
