We had a lovely time. Thursday’s weather was nice and cool. Was behind an outing of like 6 tee times of olds (the starter was like - you’ll be the youngest people on the course lol), and the group directly in front of us didn’t play great golf aka waited a ton on tees/approaches. A single caught up with us on 8 and he was super pleasant and made for a fun back 9 as a 3some.
Course was fun! Loved the visually deceptive bunkering on some holes. Greens were some fun ones as well (just a bit slow from Wednesday’s rain still). Two thumbs up, would play again.
More importantly, how was the show? I went to Minneapolis to see PJ last weekend and thought it was the best they’ve been in years. Pearl Jam was my first concert ever- my parents took me to Lollapalooza in 2007 as a 9 year old to see their headlining set- and I’ve been to 10 or so shows since and I was blown away by the energy they had.
It also helps that the setlists have been killer to open the new tour
The shows were unreal. Second night especially. And it was cool to have Eddie and the band break the news to Chris Chelios about the blackhawks going to retire his number this year.
We were in section 121 Tuesday, Stone’s side about 13 rows up from the floor. Great view. Did GA Thursday which is a different energy lol.
Have seen them toooo many times to count and they are just awesome each and every time.
Ok so we ended up with 23 players which is kind of an awkward number. Needed 1 more and we could have had 12 for a city regional and 12 suburbs. If someone wants to sign up today we’ll take it, otherwise this is our bracket. I just let the machine randomize everyone’s names for the seeding.
Today was great day… I broke 40 at River Bend which was what I told @Pinehurts i had to do from the whites to play from the blues. -1 after 6 and icarito bogeyed the last 3. I went for the hero shot on 7 from the 8th fairway and it didn’t go as planned.
I played at Spring Brook and Phillips Park for the first time. I think I prefer Spring Brook but both nice affordable courses. Walked Phillips in 3 hours 20 min at 6:40 am so that was amazing
Friend of the 2CGC Down the middle Dan would take the last spot. Comes with the added bonuses of using Stonehenge for some matches and finally probably getting him on here.
Then pool play it is. Will send an updated bracket later tonight. Everyone please contain your excitement and hold off on scheduling matches for a few more hours.
Ha! I can’t actually see who voted for what so this was pointless. Good news is I’ve got the tournament sorted. Just waiting on the mods to approve my new topic.
Booked a round at Lac La Belle for Oct 9. Thinking about playing either Broadlands or Naga-waukee after. Looks very possible that I’ll get to Prairie Bluff before the end of season too.
My friend is absolutely outraged about this sign near the putting/chipping area at Pine Meadow
I’m opposed to that in principle, but might not be so bad depending on how it’s implemented. Like if it’s a separate fee, that’s dumb. If you can use it after hitting a bucket of balls or on a day you’re playing, it’s not quite as bad. I stopped going to Ravisloe years ago and wrote the pro a nasty email after I got kicked off the chipping area for using a shag-bag AFTER I had already paid for two buckets of balls. If I’d bought the balls, hit them at the chipping area, then picked them up and gone the range, no problem. But the other way around (and hitting my own balls instead of their shitty balls) got me kicked off.
Heritage Oaks does this right. I was there a couple months ago and the putting green and chipping area was full of kids practicing and competing against each other. It was awesome to see. No pay to play.
