This is a fantastic take. A billion ways to play that hole and scores from eagle to bogey all in play depending on how greedy you get.
Man, how good is the finishing stretch at JP!? I know @PinkPantser agrees that 17 is one of the greatest Par 3s around. 16 has to be the strongest par 4 on the course.
WATS will be Eagle Springs early on this year, we’ll have a forward event at Canal Shores before they nuke it for renovations, and I still would like to do a meetup at Bonnie at somepoint this season.
There is a very narrow part of the fairway. But I’m not sure its really in play (or at least designed to be in play).
275-300 yards off the back tee box, fairway is about 30 yards wide. And the ideal layup with 100 yards to the center is about the same, maybe wider, before the hill.
But really I’m here for the chaos. And hearing the poor reviews of it only excites me. For reference I played high school golf at Old Orchard in Prospect Heights if that sheds any light onto the gimmicks I got used to growing up.
You don’t like this tee shot? Unless it’s into the wind (usually is), you can just hit a hybrid and you should have 8i in from the fairway. Also @PinkPantser pointed out to me that you can go pretty far left and be totally fine, while right is dead.
I mean I love that there’s a ton of courses on here I’ve never played.
I have played #5 Oak Springs. It’s right around the cornfield from Kankakee Elks, like a four minute drive. I’m glad I played it once to check it off, but I would always always play 36 at The Elks if I was down there again.
“Golfer’s Choice rankings are determined by our community of reviewers.” - This just like Bob from western Illinois and plays along 88 and 80, with some trips up 90 and 94?
The last 3 holes at JP are legitimately good and I’ll die on that hill. 16 in particular, it’s the one hole on that course where you have to scope out the pin the hole before. Fun green and deceptive bunkers. I’ve never seen anyone hit it in the tree overhanging the tee, just an uncomfy visual, hit driver and don’t miss right
Played #22 Moweaqua a lot growing up. It’s an absolute dog track, but would always leave there with a good taste in your mouth. It was never more than $25 to ride and on Wednesdays it used to be $18 rounds all day long. Probably gets good reviews for the price and how easy it is
