I am wayyy behind on catching up on the Refuge but I can confirm I do have the trophy in my condo in Chicago. Would love to hand it off to someone before I leave! Would also like to play in this year’s Brewer’s Cup to defend the title!
Chicago guise, I’m flying out of ORD next week and it’s been awhile since I’ve parked there. Historically, I’ve used economy lots G and H, which I always thought was fine. Anything I should know and/or do differently?
The last few times we’ve tried to long term park, the old lots have been full or otherwise not available. The signs swing you around and over by the new parking structure, which presumably is a long term parking facility. However, in our travels, that has also been full, and they’ve given us a voucher to use on the way out after your trip that allows you to park right by the terminal. You have to actual try to long term park to get the voucher, though. Also, don’t lose that voucher.
The cheap economy lots are charging $15/day now. What’s a cheaper/solid option is to park at either the Rosemont or Cumberland CTA stations then take the Blue Line in. You can park there for $11/day, and the time to terminal is almost as good, if not better than the economy lots or any other nearby lot with a shuttle.
G and H require the use of the bus to get to and from the terminals. When you get back, that bus can take a while and goes to terminal 5 before heading to the lots. It can take a while.
Lot F has the tram attached to it and is much faster getting to and from the terminals, but is an addition $5 or $7 a day. If you’re traveling with a kid, the tram and lot F is definitely worth it.
We’ve found the best way to fly with the kid(s) is to drive right to the terminal, drop off a parent and the kid(s), and the other parent goes and parks the car. It works especially well if I get to leave the kids with my wife while I go park the car.
I tried this move in reverse to go get the car from the shuttle bus lot while my wife and daughter waited for the bags. I waited so long for the shuttle that they had the bags before the shuttle even came.
full agreement here. I used lot F a month ago with my kids. It was hard to find a spot indoors, but the tram was much better than the shuttle buses.
Am I losing my mind - or was there a renovation announced for the practice green at Shepherd’s Crook?
Like an expanded chipping area and putting course? I can’t find any release or renderings…
Thank you for your service
Shoutout to anyone who’s overcooked their approach on 9 into the practice area. Or the patio. And didn’t apologize/show remorse.
Definitely haven’t done that on the second hole, either. Nope, no-siree.
Two spots open at Indian Boundary at 10:20 on Saturday- anyone want to join?
Shepherds crook is sick. We played it and Thunderhawk for 36 on my BDay. One of my favorite golf days of all time.
Hi All,
Please see below for the recruitment and general update to the 2CGC’s future. If you don’t have access to this page, please DM me or @EConroy419 . Looking for volunteers to shape the future of NLU’s Chicago based Roost, Second City Golf Club.

Checked out the new Willow Hill Dome today. They’re just getting started so it is pretty bare bones. Typical hitting mats. 65 ft high ceiling, about 160 yards deep? Wasn’t crowded, but steady traffic. I think they have about 20 spots.
Really cool that is so long. But I give those hanging pendant lights about 2 weeks, maybe less.
It’s like a net with a lightweight frame. I hit them a couple times, they bounce right off. But yeah I can see if the netting gets compromised, all bets are off.
