Looking forward to playing with you guys!! Should be a blast.
Are there Mayhem GCs across the country? Is this like NLUs thing but already has been happening for the last 10 years?
Simple answers - No & yes (on a local Vancouver level)
We are primarily based in the Lower Mainland but have some members on the Island and the Interior as well.
It started as a group of friends 10 years ago going on an annual trip in May - thus āMayhemā. Since then it has become friends of friends of friends and has grown to what it is today; which is a few group trips a year and running a FedEx Cup style Tour in Vancouver. Our philosophy is aligned with NLUās which is why this was such a good fit for us. Iāve been following NLU for a couple of years and been lurking here reading without really participating in any of the discourse until this opportunity came up. Our whole Mayhem crew are excited about adding new āgolf sickosā to our group, creating some fun competition and supporting local charities.
Fellow Mayhemmer whoās been following along for a long time but a rare poster. 2021 was my first year on the Mayhem Tour. Pumped to see it become a roost!
Anyone have any recommendations for a place (or a person?) in the lower mainland to get a good club fitting? Iām out in Abbotsford but donāt mind driving around to get to the right spot.
Go see Cory Renfrew or Jeff Johnson at Modern Golf in Richmond. Great guys, have worked with both. Jeff did my first fitting when I was a higher cap player. Have been doing lessons and my new gear more recently with Cory as my game has improved
Hi everyone - just wanted to share information about The Mayhem Roost and all things that are going to be happening this year. I have attached a link to a google doc that outlines everything.
We will be doing a monthly meetup starting in March. If you would like to join the Mayhem Roost or come out to any of the meetups you can send me a DM or reply to this and I can add you to the Mayhem GC forum that has been created here in The Refuge.
Once I start posting Meetup events/sign-ups - I will make sure to post them here as well. Looking forward to meeting many of you and having some fun on the course.
From the looks of it, thereās Mayhem, which is itās own thing and has been around for 10 years, and then thereās the Roost, which is a different thing, although with some overlap.
I assume to be part of the Roost and play in the monthly roost meet-up, you donāt need to join the existing Mayhem group (since thatās something else and not connected to the Refuge/Nest) - Correct? Iām having a hard time figuring out where the Roost ends and Mayham starts and where they overlap
Yes I get the confusion - Iāll try to clarify.
Within the Mayhem Roost there are two components - the monthly meetups & the tour. You can be part of both or only one but both are under the Mayhem Roost umbrella. Both will be run and coordinated through The Refuge. The monthly meetups are for people that donāt want to or canāt commit to the tour but still want to come out once a month or occasionally to meetup. Anyone who is part of the tour will be a Refuge/Roost member.
I should add that anyone who wants to come out to a monthly meetup doesnāt need to be a Roost member.
The 10 year history is around a weekend golf trip - and many on that trip are not part of the tour. That isnāt directly part of the Roost but if we have openings I will definitely post it on here to see if any want to join.
I spent a little time and cleaned up the document - have a look and let me know if itās clearer? I removed all the information about non-Roost activities. Thanks for the feedback.
Iām feeling that @Sarah , as opposed to the made for this vibe that other roosts might have now it will feel a lot more like piling into an existing group of friends. Vancouver should have a roost though and if this ready made roost is the way then I hope enough refugees embrace it to bring that flavour in.
@TBagg if thereās a spot for this trip, we practically went to the same high-school . Iād love to hear more and wedge my way in for future years if thatās not too forward. Iāll embrace the awkwardness and throw it out there. Iāve been lucky to have made a few golf trips but never one thatās lasted or didnāt involve coercing quasi interested friends which suuuuucks.
I joined Mayhem last year with another friend- we knew nobody. Itās a great group that couldnāt be more welcoming.
I think people should give it a chance. Youāre going to meet a group of people who love the game and wanted to connect more with the NLU community, what could go wrong?
@Banjopete you bet! Iāll keep you in the loop re: the golf trip - we are currently full this year but people drop out leading up to May and Iām almost always scrambling for replacements. Iāll send you a DM with details. Co-vid over the past 2 Mays has made organizing a nightmare.
Totally get that, itās put a āmaybeā on everything. Thanks.
Is there an official sign up sheet (maybe I missed this) or how do we register/pay to join the roost and mayhem tour etc?
Just out of curiosity, where you guys heading this year?
Osoyoos (Fairview Mtn, Osoyoos G&C, Nkāmip) - going to tie in a little wine touring & go carting at the Jacques Villeneuve design Kartplex/Area 27.

We have a Mayhem Roost area now @zoomse - I have already added you to the list so I think the above link should take you there. Official Tour sign up sheet coming by end of the month.
Hey, so I know theres a few threads for selling clubs on here, and thats cool and all, but shipping is trash and I figured Iād cut out the middle man. If anyones interested in helping in my cathartic mission to be in a club deficit for the calendar year, check this out for a bunch of shtuff. Most of its probably older than what someone who frequents a golf message board would be seen playing but I figured Iād explore the avenue anyway. Also 100% willing to work in an internet friend discount. Can offer more pix if your interested, its all in good shape, scouts honor. Live in New West btw.
